Lakeridge Parkway (SR 782) was extended north from a dead end at Lickinghole Creek to U.S. 1 in south Ashland as a new commercial arterial along the west side of I-95. Funded by VDOT Revenue Sharing, Hanover County and a developer, the 6,000 foot long project preceded VDOT work along Lewistown Road at I-95.1 12/16/22
Accommodating commercial development at Northlake Business Park, work completed in 2017 widened forthcoming SR 802 (Lewistown Road) from a narrow two lane road into a four lane arterial. 12/16/22
SR 802 (Lewistown Road) measures 1.63 miles from U.S. 1 (Washington Highway) to SR 657 (Ashcake Road). 12/16/22
Costing $30 million, construction from Spring 2015 to Winter 2017 modified the diamond interchange (Exit 89) with Lewistown Road (SR 802). A five lane wide, 16 foot 5 inch overpass was built for SR 802 and Exit 89 from I-95 north was realigned eastward.2 12/16/22
Interstate 95 passes through the corporate limits of Ashland for 1.8 miles on the ensuing stretch. 12/17/20
Ashcake Road (SR 657) spans I-95, 1.5 miles south of Exit 92 to SR 54. SR 54 constitutes an 18.67 mile long highway between U.S. 33 near Montpelier and Hanover. 12/17/20

The first of two exits along I-95 in Caroline County is with SR 207 (Rogers Clark Boulevard) north to U.S. 301 and Fort A.P. Hill. 12/17/20
SR 207 comprises a principal arterial northeast 11.93 miles from U.S. 1 at Carmel Church to U.S. 301 at Bowling Green. 12/16/22
The SR 207 connection with U.S. 301 at Bowling Green is the last direct route from I-95 to U.S. 301 (A.P. Hill Boulevard) for the Governor Harry Nice Memorial Bridge. U.S. 301 travels over the southernmost Potomac River crossing between Dahlgren, Virginia and Newburg, Maryland. 12/16/22

Leaving Carmel Church, Fredericksburg is 28 miles and four exits away. Washington is 50 miles further, which may take up to two hours depending upon traffic. 12/17/20
The Ladysmith Safety Rest areas for I-95 are located between the Cool Water Drive and Golansville Road overpasses east of Golansville at milepost 107. A Virginia welcome center was added at the northbound facility in 2017. 12/17/20
The Ladysmith Safety Rest areas were closed on July 21, 2009 due to VDOT budget cuts. Part of a state wide initiative, the decision to close several Interstate rest areas in Virginia proved unpopular with travelers. VDOT ultimately reopened the I-95 rest areas by mid-March 2010. 12/17/20
A diamond interchange (Exit 110) joins I-95 with SR 639 (Ladysmith Road) east of Ladysmith. Ladysmith Road travels between Childesburg and SR 207 (Rogers Clark Boulevard) at Poplar. 12/17/20

Meeting the six lane freeway a short distance beyond the county line is SR 606 (Mudd Tavern Road). SR 606 travels to Post Oak, Snell, Thornburg and the Stonewall Jackson Shrine between SR 208 and SR 2. 12/17/20

Approved by the Spotsylvania County Board of Supervisors in 2013, Dominion Raceway, a 100 acre facility with both an oval track and two mile long road course, is located along the east side of I-95 off SR 606. The inaugural race at the track took place on April 9, 2016.3 12/17/20
Speed limits remain at 70 miles per hour on the approach to Fredericksburg. The General Assembly passed legislation in 2010 that raised the maximum limit from 65 to 70 mph effective July 1, 2010. This included I-95 between Ashland and Fredericksburg, where limits increased by Thanksgiving 2010.4 12/17/20

U.S. 1 stays east of Interstate 95 from Exit 126 northward to the city of Alexandria and the Capital Beltway. Through Fredericksburg, U.S. 1 separates with a Business Route to Downtown. 12/17/20
U.S. 1/17 overlap from Exit 126 southward for 0.9 miles, where U.S. 17 turns east along a controlled access bypass to U.S. 17 Business (Tidewater Trail) at New Post. There U.S. 17 rejoins its original alignment along Mills Drive southeast to Tappahannock. U.S. 1 continues south of U.S. 17 two miles to the community of Massaponax. 12/17/20

SR 3 (Plank Road) crosses paths with Interstate 95 at the succeeding Fredericksburg interchange (Exits 130A/B). The state route constitutes a multi-lane corridor between the city of Culpeper and the commercialized exchange with I-95. 12/17/20

SR 3 follows William Street east from Plank Road, meeting U.S. 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) at a cloverleaf interchange 1.1 miles from I-95. Southward from there, SR 3 bypasses central Fredericksburg on Blue and Gray Parkway. 12/17/20

Exit 130B loops away from I-95 north to SR 3 (Plank Road) westbound for Chancellorsville, Wilderness, Lignum, Stevensburg and Culpeper. SR 3 concludes at U.S. 15/29, 31 miles to the west. 12/17/20

I-95 northbound at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Bridge along SR 639 (Fall Hill Avenue). A $4.4 million project from February 2015 to April 20, 2017 widened Fall Hill Avenue to four lanes and replaced the bridge above I-95.5 12/17/20
I-95/U.S. 17 separate north of the Rappahannock River at Warrenton Road (U.S. 17 Business) in one mile. The river separates Spotsylvania and Stafford Counties. 12/17/20
The northbound span of I-95/U.S. 17 across the Rappahannock River dates to 1963. The 1,083 foot long bridge supports a 61.7 foot wide deck.6 12/16/16
