Interstate 95 U.S. 17 North
U.S. 17/SR 228 follow I-10 east from Roosevelt Expressway and combine with I-95 north along the c/d roadway to Monroe Street. U.S. 17 is unsigned along I-95 to Union Street (U.S. 23 south). The realignment of U.S. 17/SR 228 was made in 2006 as FDOT relinquished maintenance of the route through both the Avondale and Brooklyn neighborhoods. 11/19/21
Following the c/d roadway to Exit 352 B for Forsyth Street east to N Broad Street, where until 2006 it became a part of U.S. 17 north. Seven blocks east of there U.S. 17 joined U.S. 1 north / U.S. 90 west along Main Street. Beyond Main Street, Forsyth Street continues east to become SR 228 on the Hart Bridge Expressway. 11/19/21
The Interstate 95 mainline passes through the superstructure of the Myrtle Avenue bridge. Constructed in 1955, the through arch bridge is 1,430 feet in length with a width of 79 feet at a height of 18.2 feet.1 03/03/13
The steel-arch bridge takes I-95, U.S. 17 and SR 228 over the Norfolk Southern Railroad, Myrtle Avenue and Bay Street. C/d roadways were built alongside the arch bridge in 1991 and used solely for the Forsyth Street ramp until 2008. 03/03/13
Exit 352 C leaves I-95 north for Monroe Street east to Broad Street and Downtown. 11/19/21
The freeway right of way expands to accommodate a series of left side entrance ramps. Forthcoming Exit 352 B requires a double lane change for U.S. 17 north / U.S. 23 (Union Street) south. This is why previous signs routed motorists onto the c/d roadway for Union Street. 07/23/13
Union Street, along with State Street, forms a couplet for U.S. 17/23 between I-95 and U.S. 1 (Main Street). Beaver Street (U.S. 90) parallels Union Street one block to the south. Union Street east to the Arlington Expressway connects with TIAA Bank Field (home of the Jacksonville Jaguars), VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, 121 Financial Ballpark and Florida State College. 11/19/21
U.S. 17 north separates from Interstate 95 north above Beaver Street (U.S. 90). Unmarked on signs for Exit 353 B, U.S. 17 splits with the freeway and combines with the final 0.75 miles of U.S. 23 south along Union Street to Main Street (U.S. 1). 11/19/21

MLK Parkway comprises a freeway loop around central Jacksonville between Interstate 95 and the Hart Bridge Expressway. 07/23/13
A three quarter cloverleaf interchange joins I-95 and U.S. 1 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway). The parkway becomes U.S. 1 Alternate east of Main Street en route to the Hart Bridge Expressway. Although not signed, SR 115 also follows the freeway loop between the John E. Mathews Bridge and I-95. 03/03/13

I-95 spans the Trout River over the ensuing mile to SR 105 (Zoo Parkway) in North Jacksonville. The Trout River bridge was one of several Jacksonville area toll bridges until 1989, when a 1988 referendum voted by Duval County residents went into effect. That vote abolished tolls and replaced them with a half-cent sales tax.3 11/19/21
Construction to replace the Trout River Bridge kicked off on March 7, 2005. The $53.4 million project constructed a new southbound span first (opened December 18, 20065), which carried four overall lanes as crews demolished the span built in 1959. Then work focused on the addition of a new northbound bridge, which opened in Spring 2008.3 11/19/21
Spanning the Trout River Bridge, I-95 curves northeast toward a wye interchange (Exit 358 A) with SR 105 (Zoo Parkway) east to U.S. 17 (Main Street). 11/19/21
Flowing 20 miles wholly within the city of Jacksonville, the Trout River originates in northwest Duval County as a small creek. The waterway flows east and expands to 0.6 miles in width at Sandfly Point on the St. Johns River. 11/19/21

Widening of I-95 from SR 105 northward to Interstate 295 expanded a 3.7 mile stretch of freeway to six lanes. The $26.1 million project commenced in October 2006 as the Trout River Bridge replacement project was midway through completion. It was completed in 2008.5 11/19/21
SR 104 converges with I-95 near the Anheuser Busch Brewery along Busch Drive. The 7.57 mile long state road travels west from U.S. 17 (Main Street) and unsigned CR 163 (Busch Drive) to Northwood, Garden City, and Biscayne Village to U.S. 1/23 at Dinsmore. 11/19/21

Costing $48 million, the 50 foot high, 2,256 foot long flyover from I-95 south to the East Beltway opened to traffic on August 24, 2010.6 11/19/21
