Batram Avenue becomes a part of PA 291 west of Island Avenue (SR 3013) to John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum. Tinicum Wildlife Refuge was renamed in honor of Senator John Heinz, who died April 4, 1991 in a plane crash in Philadelphia. 12/20/22
A two lane ramp from the George Platt Bridge (PA 291) west forms a c/d roadway (Exit 12) along I-95 south to PA 291 (Batram Avenue) and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). 12/20/22
The George C. Platt Bridge (PA 291) converges with I-95 south of the Schuylkill River Tank Farm and Mingo Creek. PA 291 follows Penrose Avenue west from the span to Island Avenue below I-95. 12/20/22
The Platt Bridge takes PA 291 northeast to S 26th Street (SR 3003) in South Philadelphia. PA 291 continues along Penrose Avenue to F.D. Roosevelt Park and Pattison Avenue. 12/20/22
PA 291 originates in South Philadelphia at Oregon Avenue and PA 611 (Broad Street). The state route angles southwest along Moyamensing Avenue to Penrose Avenue and the George Platt Bridge. 12/20/22
Interstate 95 expands to 14 overall lanes by Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). This includes the main roadways, c/d roadways and auxiliary lanes. 12/20/22
Exit 12 B connects with parallel PA 291 (Batram Avenue), which arcs south to Industrial Highway at Scott Way for Cargo City at PHL Airport. 12/21/16
The southbound mainline proceeds west by PHL Airport uninterrupted toward Chester and Wilmington, Delaware. 12/20/22

New ramps opened to the passenger terminal at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) on June 28, 2002 as part of a $86.5 million project.1 12/21/16
I-95 spans PA 291 (Batram Avenue) two miles east of the cloverleaf interchange (Exit 9) with PA 420 (Wanamaker Avenue). 12/20/22
Wetlands within John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge spread along the north side of I-95 from Darby Creek west of PHL Airport. 12/20/22
Interstate 95 comprises an eight lane freeway through Tinicum township west to the collector distributor roadways for Exit 9. 12/20/22
PA 420 stems north from PA 291 (Industrial Highway) near Westinghouse Village to meet Interstate 95 just south of Darby Creek. 12/20/22
Continuing north into the borough of Prospect Park, PA 420 follows Lincoln Avenue to U.S. 13 (Chester Pike). Kedron Avenue extends the route into Ridley township to Morton. 12/20/22
Exit 9 B leaves the c/d roadway for PA 420 (Wanamaker Avenue) north. The state route concludes at PA 320 (Sproul Road), 5.3 miles to the north in Springfield township. 12/20/22
Wanamaker Avenue (SR 2002) extends 0.30 miles south from PA 420 and PA 291 (Industrial Highway) to E 2nd Street in Essington. 12/20/22
Interstate 95 expands to eight overall lanes again west to the diamond interchange (Exit 8) with Stewart Avenue (SR 2033). 12/20/22
Curving north through an S-curve, I-95 crosses Darby Creek into Ridley township. 12/20/22
PA 291 parallels the Delaware River west from Stewart Avenue (SR 2033) through the borough of Eddystone into the city of Chester ahead of U.S. 13. U.S. 13/PA 291 overlap west to the Chester Waterfront. 12/20/22
0.76 miles in length, Stewart Avenue (SR 2033) is an arterial route linking I-95 at Exit 8 with U.S. 13 (Chester Pike) to the north and PA 291 (Industrial Highway) to the south. 12/20/22
Exit 8 leaves I-95 south for Stewart Avenue (SR 2033) north into the borough of Ridley Park. 12/20/22
Interstate 476 (Mid County Expressway) serves the western suburbs of Philadelphia from Exit 7 north to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeastern Extension at Plymouth Meeting. 12/20/22
Opened north from I-95 to I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) at West Conshohocken in 1991, Interstate 476 is known as the Blue Route by locals. The blue route was one of three alternatives considered for the Mid County Expressway during the planning stages. 12/20/22
Interstate 476 travels 20 miles north to the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-276) in Plymouth township. The route was extended along the Northeastern Extension to Allentown, Scranton and I-81 at Clarks Summit in 1996. 12/20/22
I-95 reduces to just four overall lanes through the directional T interchange at Exit 7. Constructed in the mid 1970s, the exchange initially opened to local traffic north to Macdade Boulevard (SR 2006) on August 17, 1988.2 07/27/07
Continuing west from I-476, I-95 advances to a split diamond interchange (Exit 6) with Chestnut Street and PA 352 (Edgemont Avenue) in Chester. 12/20/22
Beginning at U.S. 13 (Fourth Street) outside Downtown Chester, PA 320 (Providence Avenue) runs north to Widener University and Swarthmore. 12/20/22
Interstate 95 enters the city of Chester across Ridley Creek. 12/20/22
Exit 6 connects with Chestnut Street between 12th/13th Streets, three blocks east of PA 320 (Upland Street) south. PA 352 parallels to the west along Edgemont Avenue north from U.S. 13 Business (9th Street) and Avenue of the States to Parkside and Brookhaven. 12/20/22
Dropping below grade, Interstate 95 proceeds west alongside a CSX Railroad line through Chester. 06/03/12, 12/20/22
Confirming marker posted beyond the entrance ramp from PA 352 (Edgemont Avenue) and PA 320 (Providence Avenue). 12/20/22
I-95 crosses through a section of Upland before reentering Chester ahead of Exit 4 for U.S. 322 east to the Chester Waterfront. 12/20/22

Exit 4 separates from I-95 south and combines with an on-ramp from Kerlin Street (SR 3001). A directional T interchange follows with U.S. 322 along the expressway south to the Commodore Barry Bridge. 12/20/22
The Commodore Barry Bridge joins Chester with Bridgeport, New Jersey. The cantilever span opened to traffic in 1974 and was tolled eastbound until 1992. 12/20/22
U.S. 322 (Commodore Barry Bridge) heads southeast to U.S. 13 (2nd Street) by Suburu Park (home of the MLS Philadelphia Union) before elevating across the Delaware River. U.S. 322 travels east across South Jersey to Mullica Hill, Glassboro and Atlantic City. 12/20/22
Succeeding exits depart I-95 south one mile from the directional T interchange (Exit 4) with U.S. 322 and the Commodore Barry Bridge. 01/14/17

U.S. 322 west combines with I-95 south for 0.7 miles from Engle Street (SR 3033) at Feltonville to Exit 3 A in Chester. 12/20/22
U.S. 322 branches north from Exit 3 B along Conchester Highway to U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) at Concordville. 12/20/22
The I-95/U.S. 322 interchange will be eventually reconstructed in Section C of Interstate 95 improvement projects. 12/20/22
Exit 3 B loops into the intersection joining Bethel Road (SR 3010) with Highland Avenue (SR 3035) in western reaches of Chester. 12/20/22
Highland Avenue leads south to become a part of U.S. 13 Business at W 9th Street. 12/20/22
U.S. 322 overlaps with U.S. 202 (Wilmington Pike) north from U.S. 1 in eight miles. U.S. 202/322 combine northward to the Chester County seat of West Chester. 12/20/22

Interstate 95 advances west into Upper Chichester township. 12/20/17
The final two exits in Pennsylvania join I-95 south with the borough of Marcus Hook. Interstate 495, the eastern bypass of Wilmington, begins at the Delaware state line in two miles. 12/20/22
A parclo interchange links I-95 with PA 452 (Market Street) at Exit 2. PA 452 runs south to Linwood and U.S. 13 in Marcus Hook and north to Village Green in Aston township and PA 352 at Lima. 12/20/22
A state named shield for I-95 south near Boothwyn was replaced by 2018 with this assembly. 12/20/22
Chichester Avenue (SR 3009) angles northwest from PA 452 (Market Street) in Linwood to Blueball Avenue (SR 3011) and Meetinghouse Road (SR 3012) at Boothwyn. 12/20/22
The southbound off-ramp at the parclo interchange (Exit 1) with Chichester Avenue (SR 3009) ties into Pleasant Avenue. 12/20/22
Interstate 495 constitutes an 11 mile long loop from Claymont, Delaware south to eastern reaches of Wilmington and the Port of Wilmington. 12/20/22
Green outs for City/Port of were added for I-495 south to Wilmington in an effort to shift through traffic off I-95 during the 2000 closure and reconstruction of the freeway north of Wilmington. 12/20/22
The wye interchange (Exit 11) with I-495 south falls within the diamond interchange joining I-95 with Delaware State Route 92 (Naamans Road) to Claymont and the Brandywine Hundred community. 12/20/22
This shield precedes the I-95/495 split beyond the West Branch of Naamans Creek. 12/20/17
