Interstate 95 New Jersey Turnpike South
U.S. 1 parallels the New Jersey Turnpike closely from Metuchen southwest toward Highland Park and New Brunswick. Exit 9 provides direct access to the US highway via the Route 18 expressway connector. Route 18 constitutes a major north-south arterial between Old Bridge and New Brunswick otherwise. 06/13/05
Interstate 95 continues through south Edison Township ahead of the Raritan River crossing into New Brunswick. U.S. 1 crosses the river along a concrete arch bridge visible to the west.
Route 18 meets the New Jersey Turnpike at a trumpet interchange (Exit 9) one mile east of its interchange with U.S. 1. U.S. 1 provides a six lane through route between New Brunswick and Trenton parallel to Interstate 95. The divided highway continues southwest three miles to the split with U.S. 130 and 23 miles to the Trenton Belt Line portion of Interstate 95. 06/13/05
Drivers bound for Route 18 and U.S. 1 at New Brunswick depart the New Jersey Turnpike at Exit 9. Route 18 travels three miles southeast to South River and five miles to Old Bridge. The state highway upgrades to a freeway at U.S. 9, comprising a limited-access highway from there to Neptune, Asbury Park, and Belmar. 06/13/05
The New Jersey Turnpike leaves the greater New York metro area on the drive to South Brunswick township and Route 32 (Forsgate Drive). Exit 8A serves the Middlesex County communities of Jamesburg to the east and Cranbury to the southwest via connections with CR 612 (Forsgate Drive) and U.S. 130 respectively. 06/30/05
Monroe and South Brunswick join Jamesburg and Cranbury as control cities for Exit 8A on Interstate 95 south. South Brunswick entails the areas at the Route 32 junction with U.S. 130 nearby. Monroe Township lies south of Jamesburg and east of the New Jersey Turnpike. 06/30/05
Southbound entering the Exit 8A trumpet interchange with Route 32 (Forsgate Drive). Route 32 constitutes a 1.18 mile route along Forsgate Drive between U.S. 130 and Interstate 95. The US highway travels through Cranbury township between Route 32 and Route 133 at East Windsor. 06/30/05

Historical look at the NJ Turnpike Roadway merge ahead of the Molly Pitcher Service Area in Cranbury township. Beyond the merge, cars and trucks shared a total of three southbound lanes to Exit 4 (Cherry Hill). 06/30/05
Prospect Plains Road (CR 614) passes over Interstate 95 southbound ahead of the Molly Pitcher Service Area. 06/30/05
One mile north of Exit 8 with Route 133 and 33 on Interstate 95 south. Modifications made here by 2012 included an extension of Route 133 (Hightstown Bypass) south to meet the NJ Turnpike at a new trumpet interchange.
Route 33 constitutes an east-west route through East Windsor, Hightstown, and Twin Rivers within the vicinity of the New Jersey Turnpike. The Hightstown Bypass (Route 133) encircles the communities north and west to U.S. 130. 06/30/05
Route 33 travels west from Neptune City on the New Jersey Coast through the Freehold area and Manalapan to Twin Rivers, Hightstown, and East Windsor. The state route merges with U.S. 130 south for five miles to Windsor and Robbinsville west of Interstate 95. Pictured here is the original Exit 8 off-ramp to Route 33. Exit 8 now connects with Route 133 north to its SPUI with Route 33. 06/30/05
Continuing southward along Interstate 95 and the New Jersey Turnpike toward Interstate 195 (Exit 7A) in Robbinsville township. U.S. 206 crosses paths with the New Jersey Turnpike at Exit 7 near Mansfield Square in Bordentown township. The US route heads south from Trenton, White Horse, and Bordentown to Ewansville, Red Lion, and Hammonton in South Jersey. U.S. 206 shares a brief overlap with U.S. 130 through Bordentown one mile north of Interstate 95.
A new trumpet interchange was constructed north of the original Exit 7 as part of the Turnpike widening. 06/30/05
Interstate 95 splits with the NJ Turnpike mainline for the Pearl Harbor Memorial Turnpike Extension in one and a half miles at Exit 6. Guide signs installed in the mid-2000s added Interstate 276 shields for the eventual Pennsylvania Turnpike designation at Bristol, PA. 03/23/04
One mile ahead of the three-wye interchange interchange (Exit 6) with the Pearl Harbor Memorial Turnpike Extension west. An interchange resides halfway between Exit 6A and the Delaware River with U.S. 130 at Florence township. 06/30/05
Interstate 95 turns west toward Bucks County, Pennsylvania and its path through Philadelphia at Exit 6. Construction of a new interchange between the Pennsylvania Turnpike mainline and I-95 at Bristol is underway through 2017. Upon completion, I-95 will officially vacate the Trenton belt line and I-195 will extend over the former I-95 alignment into PA. 03/23/04
