
Interstate 290 was completed west from the New York Thruway to NY 263 at Amherst in 1964.
Interstate 290 is a suburban freeway looping 10.51 miles northwest from I-90 (New York Thruway) outside Williamsville to I-190 near the South Grand Island Bridge. Also known as the Youngmann Expressway, I-290 connects Buffalo with Tonawanda, the town of Amherst and the University of Buffalo (UB).
