Route 905 comprises a 1.03 mile long expressway between Interstate 474 at Exit 3 and Maxwell Road (County Route R46) at Bellevue just west of Peoria. The controlled access route was constructed as the easternmost portion of a proposed expressway for IL 336 linking Peoria with Macomb. The only sign referencing Route 905 is a milepost posted at the west end.

All signs posted along the expressway were replaced by August 2011.

Illinois Route 905 East

Illinois Route 905 West
Posted just a short distance west of the ramps from Interstate 474 is this sign directing motorists bound for IL 116 (Plank Road) to the left. There is no direct access between I-474 and IL 116, with Route 905 providing part of the connection along with Maxwell Road south. 05/07/10
A pair of expressway ends signs usher the quick conclusion of Route 905 west ahead of Maxwell Road (County Road R46). 05/07/10
Maxwell Road north ends at Farmington Road a short distance north of Route 905. County Road R46 follows Farmington Road west to Norwood Boulevard into Norwood. 05/07/10
Route 905 ends at the at-grade intersection with Maxwell Road. IL 116 parallels the expressway one half mile to the south west to Maxwell, Wildlife Prairie State Park and Hanna City. 05/07/10
