State Road 558 spurs 1.108 miles1 east from U.S. 231/SR 58 to the town of Crane in northeast Daivess County. The state road serves one of four connections to the Naval Sea Systems Command Crane Division complex (NAVSEA). The Naval installation is the third largest in the world and employees approximately 3,000 employees.2
SR 558 first appeared on the 1953 State Highway System of Indiana official map.3
