SR 24 North

U.S. 1 follows Mills and Pleasant Street west from Brunswick to a freeway connector linking the US highway with Interstate 295 at Exit 28. U.S. 201 State Route 24 North

The Androscoggin Rive flows east from Auburn and Lewiston into Merrymeeting Bay and the Kennebec River. The river also separates Brunswick and Cumberland County from Topsham and Sagadahoc County across U.S. 201. 06/28/05
Within Topsham, U.S. 201/Route 24 (Main Street) leave the Androscoggin River and near their split at Elm Street. Route 24 turns eastward toward Bowdoinham. U.S. 201 maintains a northward trajectory to the commercial district of Topsham, meeting Route 196 (New Lewiston Road) near the exchange with I-295 (Exit 31). 06/28/05
SR 24 North
Maine 24 travels along River Road between Bowdoinham and Richmond. Once in Richmond, the state route follows Front Street to Maine 197 (Main Street) at the town center. Maine 197 enters Richmond from Richmond Corner four miles to the west. 06/28/05
Maine 197 (Main Street / County Road) provides a direct route between Richmond and Interstate 295 (Exit 43). A diamond interchange joins the two highways 3.5 miles westward. 06/28/05
Maine 197, in conjunction with Maine 9 & 126, comprises an east-west route between Lewiston, Sabattus, Litchfield Corners and Richmond. Litchfield lies north of Maine 197 via Hallowell Road. 06/28/05
SR 24 North SR 197 East

SR 24 South SR 197 West
Maine 24 south & Maine 197 west on their 0.4-mile overlap along Front Street in Richmond. Maine 197 west joins Maine 24 south from Ferry Road and a truss bridge over the Kennebec River. 06/28/05
Descending toward the Richmond town center on Maine 24 south & 197 (Front Street) west. The two part ways ahead on respective courses to Bowdoinham and Richmond Corner. 06/28/05
Travelers bound for Interstate 295 should use Maine 197 (Main Street / County Road) west 3.5 miles to a diamond interchange (Exit 43) with the freeway. I-295 travels a parallel routing to Maine 24 from Gardiner south to Brunswick. 06/28/05
U.S. 201 State Route 24 South
Once in Topsham, U.S. 201 (Main Street) merges with Route 24 (Elm Street) for its final half mile. U.S. 201/Route 24 follow Main Street south to the Androscoggin River truss bridge into Brunswick. An end shield for U.S. 201 appears at the span. 06/28/05

U.S. 201/Route 24 emerge from the truss bridge at the modified diamond interchange with U.S. 1. U.S. 1 follows a freeway from Mill Street in Brunswick eastward to Bath. U.S. 201 ends here; Route 24 continues south via Maine Street through Downtown Brunswick to Bath Road at Bowdoin College. 06/28/05
Route 24 (Maine Street) southbound spans the U.S. 1 freeway between the north and southbound ramps. A wide boulevard carries the state route through the Brunswick central business district. Joining Brunswick with I-295 and Freeport to the west and Cooks Corner and Bath to the east, U.S. 1 travels along the Androscoggin River. 06/28/05

Pleasant Street joins U.S. 1 north (Pleasant Street) with SR 24 (Maine Street) and U.S. 201 north. The diamond interchange between U.S. 1 and Maine Street does not allow for left turns from the U.S. 1 north off-ramp to SR 24. Therefore motorists destined for U.S. 201/SR 24 north to Topsham must remain on Pleasant Street beyond its partition with U.S. 1 to make the connection. 06/28/05
Entering the intersection with SR 24 (Maine Street) from Pleasant Street east in Downtown Brunswick. SR 24 travels south to Bowdoin College, Brunswick Executive Airport (BXM), Cooks Corner and ultimately Bailey Island. Connections with SR 123 link with Harpswell on the peninsula south of Brunswick. 06/30/11
U.S. 201 and SR 123 trailblazers posted at the Pleasant Street end with Maine 24 (Maine Street). The interchange between SR 24 and U.S. 1 and the northbound beginning of U.S. 201 lies just four blocks to the north. SR 123 begins one half mile south of Pleasant Street at Bath Road at Sills Drive. 06/30/11
