North Carolina Highway 38 extends 5.50 miles north from the South Carolina line in Richmond County to U.S. 74 Business (Hamlet Avenue) in the city of Hamlet. NC 38 forms a multi state route with South Carolina Highway 38 southeast to Bennettsville and U.S. 501 near Latta.
NC 38 parallels the planned corridor taking Interstate 73 south from I-74/U.S. 74 around Hamlet into the Palmetto State. I-73 in the Palmetto State is proposed to run southeast to Myrtle Beach.
