Sam Cooper Boulevard is a freeway spur and multi lane parkway west from the exchange joining I-40/240 between the Berclair and East Memphis neighborhoods in the city of Memphis. The freeway portion was originally built for Interstate 40. It was dropped from the Interstate Highway System when the planned alignment of I-40 through Midtown and Overton Park was cancelled. With I-40 relocated onto the Memphis Beltway to the north, Sam Cooper Boulevard became an unnumbered route. The freeway and at-grade boulevard west from Malcomb Street to U.S. 64-70-79 (East Parkway) is locally maintained by the city of Memphis.
