Construction in 2016 converted the at-grade intersection with SR 30 to use J-turns. The three-month project eliminated cross traffic from U.S. 13 by directing the SR 30 mainline to use U-turns in both directions of Sussex Highway. SR 404 Business was created by 1999 when SR 404 was realigned to bypass Bridgeville along a combination of U.S. 13 (Sussex Highway) and Newton Road (SR 404 Alternate). The business route follows Main Street north to Market Street west through the Bridgeville historic district. Photo taken 01/15/17.

The intersection between U.S. 13 (Sussex Highway), SR 404 (Seashore Highway) east and U.S. 13 Business (Main Street) north was reconstructed in 2008 to eliminate an acute angle between the two roadways.
