U.S. 56 extends just 3.2 miles into Missouri from Westwood, Kansas. Entering Kansas City along Brush Creek Parkway, U.S. 56 separates into a one way couplet along Ward Parkway east between the West Plaza and Sunset Hill neighborhoods. Following the one way pair of Roanoke Parkway north and Belleview Avenue south, U.S. 56 connects with W 47th Street east to Country Club Plaza and Plaza Westport. U.S. 56 turns south again along Brookside Boulevard to South Plaza and Volker Boulevard. Volker Boulevard / Swope Parkway lead U.S. 56 east alongside the Brush Creek Greenway and Thomas J. Kiely Park to U.S. 71 (Bruce R. Watkins Drive) at Blue Hills.
