
U.S. 77 through Oklahoma either parallels or overlaps with Interstate 35 between the Texas border along the Red River near Thackerville and the Kansas state line north of Newkirk. U.S. 77 generally serves local traffic through Ardmore and Pauls Valley east of IH 35. North of OKC, U.S. 77 shifts to the west between Guthrie and SH 164. U.S. 77 crosses IH 35 east into Perry, then turns north along a rural course to Tonkawa. U.S. 77 overlaps with U.S. 60/177 east into Ponca City before turning north to Arkansas City, Kansas.
Through the Oklahoma City (OKC) area, U.S. 77 runs east of IH 35 from Purcell north into Slaughterville, Noble and Norman. U.S. 77 combines with the freeway northward into Moore and OKC to IH 40/235 at Bricktown. U.S. 77 overlaps with all of IH 235 (Centennial Expressway) through central OKC, between IH 35/40 and IH 44/SH 66 at the Oklahoma City Adventure District. Continuing north into Edmond, U.S. 77 follows the Broadway Extension, a limited access freeway to Kelley Avenue. U.S. 77 transitions into a commercial arterial north to the Edmond city center, where the route turns east along E 2nd Street back to IH 35.
