Partitioned into three sections, State Route 30 crosses northern reaches of Utah along a 135.62 mile course. The western segment extends from the end of Nevada State Route 233 at Tecoma Valley by the Bovine Mountains to Rosette. Passing south of the Raft River Mountains, SR 13 arcs northward from Park Valley to SR 42 at Curlew Junction. East across Curlew Valley, SR 13 follows historic U.S. 30S along a linear route 20.6 miles to Interstate 84 near Snowville.
The central section of SR 30 runs east from the Riverside/Logan Interchange with Interstate 15 to U.S. 91 in Logan. Totaling 19.31 miles, this stretch of highway traverses northern reaches of the Wellsville Mountains to join Bear River Valley with Cache Valley.
SR 30 resumes south from U.S. 89 at Garden City, straddling the west shore of Bear Lake to Laketown. The 25.69 mile segment climbs through Old Laketown Canyon over northern reaches of the Wasatch Range east to SR 16 at Sage Creek Junction. The state route ends east of the Bear River at Wyoming 89.
