Sign assembly in Malvern. Split of the multiplex of US 67 and 270, and beginning of the southern segment of AR 9, a discontinuous highway like many AR state highways are.
Interstate 530 sign in Whitehall. Gotta hand it to AHTD for keeping the state name on the Interstate shield. Unfortunately, most states have abandoned the state name.
Oops or not? These signs are located at the I-530/US 65 at US 270 interchange. Previously, the road going east from this interchange was known as US 270, then when the US 65 freeway was completed was changed to US 65B, and US 270 was truncated to the new US 65. Then in 1999 the road was changed to AR 365S. Now, eastbound, it is signed as AR 270. Westbound, this road is still signed as AR 365S. So is US 270 being extended, or maybe a state route extension, or a sign error? Incidentally, the westbound ressurance marker on US 270 is for AR 270. And look at that odd shaped shield!
Sign assembly at the begining of Interstate 530 in Pine Bluff.
Previous to the completion of I-530 in 1999, US 65 and 79 ran through the
middle part of Pine Bluff, and US 63 ended at West Memphis. 530 was
completed, US 65 was routed to the new freeway, and later in the year US
63 replaced AR 15 from Altheimer to El Dorado. At this time US 79
was also routed on the former AR 15 bypass east of the city.
