Arkansas
The US 278 extension

US 278 is the former AR 4 from Wickes to McGehee.  My guess is that the AR 4 signs will eventually be taken down after travelers get used to the US 278 designation.  This picture was taken in Wickes, and is the first eastbound  US 278 trailblazer.

The two newest US highways in Arkansas, US 278 and US 371 (former AR 24, AR 19, and AR 132), are multiplexed twice, once in Rosston and once in Nashville, shown here.

Another shot taken in Nashville.

In the center of Nashville.  An Arkansas Airport 980 traliblazer can be seen in this photo.  There are Airport 980's scattered throughout the state, and every one of them is numbered 980.

Another pic taken in Nashville.  These pictures were taken in March or April of 1998, and the signs were posted in Feb. 1998.  The press release for the extension of US 278 was dated 1/14/98.  Mississippi still hasn't posted US 278 signs as of June 1999.
