Quebec - Provincial Highway 9, Provincial Highway 3, and Provincial Highway 7
Laniel, Quebec.
This one really blew me away. These signs are similar to the Quebec shields today, green with three fleur-de-lis. However, the route numbers are those used before the great renumbering. My 1964 map shows names autoroutes, and the old Quebec road numbers. In 1967, numbered autoroutes have been introduced, but the old route numbers still retain on the non-freeway system. In 1972, 1973 and 1974, there was a mix: the new numbers were starting to be introduced but the main routes still had their old designation. I missed 1975, but 1976 had the full renumbering. This was a great find in my slides – kind of a transition period.
