Seattle-area and Washington photos
« on: May 21, 2014, 06:51:07 PM »

I decided to walk down Capitol Hill yesterday and managed to catch I-5 in a full-on traffic jam...in all directions (including the reversible express lanes).

Yup, that's Seattle for ya'...LOL!  One main N-S through route freeway for an entire city and no place to put another one.  This has got to be one of the worst urban bottlenecks of all time.

Just a heads up, my Flickr collection for WA will be updated after every trip. As a bonus, I present my map of places to photograph various freeways in Seattle.

Here's two more pictures, one from April and another from Tuesday:

So, I took the aligning of a Sounders match and the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge closing to go to Montlake and snap some pics. Enjoy the rare pictures of an empty 520 in daytime.

The abandoned onramp for the R.H. Thompson Freeway

It seems WSDOT didn't shut off their variable speed limit sign, perhaps because it needs to be permanently displayed.

Of course, shutting down one of the two routes connecting Seattle with its eastside suburbs is not without consequences. The backup on I-5 was monstorous and my camera battery died shortly after taking these pictures from Madison and Spring streets:

More great pix!  Thank you Bruce!  I remember the "Temp 90" days so it was great to see that old sign.

I haven't updated this thread in a while. Time to go back through my Flickr feed and cherrypick some roadgeek-friendly material.

Have some passenger seat pictures of I-405, where 17 miles of new HOT lanes between Bellevue and Lynnwood will begin tolling this year.

All these photos want to make me do is visit Seattle. Unfortunately, it's 3000 miles to the west of me, so that's not going to happen any time soon.  :-(

New camera acquired. I've put it (along with a new camera sling bag) through some trials at my local train/bus transfer station and it performed excellently.

Now I just need to learn how to take better photos with this DSLR.

It's kind of suspicious how all of these comments come out of the woodwork after I go up a level on the camera hardware ladder.

Thanks for all of the support, guys!
