California State Route 275

Photos showing California State Route 275 along the Tower Bridge Gateway prior to improvements and other changes made in 2007/08.

The Tower Bridge Gateway splits from Business Loop I-80/U.S. 50 (Capital City Freeway) at a wye interchange (Exit 3). This sign bridge was replaced with a side mounted overhead by 2011. 01/16/06

A modified diamond interchange joins Tower Bridge Gateway (old California 275) with Jefferson Boulevard (unsigned California 84). California 275 was a prior route of U.S. 40-99W east into Downtown Sacramento before the I-80 bridge along the Capital City Freeway (Business Loop I-80) over the Sacramento River was built in 1966. 01/16/06

Raley Field, which is home to the minor league baseball team Sacramento Rivercats, comes into view on the south side of the Tower Bridge Gateway. The section of freeway ahead was converted into a surface boulevard in 2007. 01/16/06

The Tower Bridge Gateway drops to ground level as an on-ramp merges from Jefferson Boulevard (California 84). The overpass in the distance carried Riske Lane, which connected to old U.S. 40-99W (West Capitol Avenue). It was demolished in 2007 and replaced with a signalized intersection. 01/16/06

Prior to 2008, a partial trumpet interchange linked California 275 with Riske Lane, a short connector to adjacent West Capitol Avenue (Historic U.S. 40). 01/16/06

The West Gateway Place development was constructed at the foot print of the former exchange with Riske Lane in 2016. 01/16/06

Right in right out (RIRO) ramps previously linked the eastbound lanes of SR 275 with South River Road just beyond Raley Field. 01/16/06

The freeway proceeded east from a railroad overpass toward the Tower Bridge. A signalized intersection with 5th Street meets the boulevard here now. 01/16/06

Forthcoming South River Road was replaced with a four-lane, divided boulevard (Riverfront Street) as part of the area redevelopment. 01/16/06
