Shields for the former overlap of SR 2/4/896 were posted along Christina Parkway just east of Elkton Road. 12/22/12
The lone set of shields for the southbound split of SR 896 from SR 4 east was this assembly posted ahead of S College Avenue. 12/22/12
Freeway style guide signs were posted along SR 4 in 1997 for the newly opened parclo interchange with SR 273. Replacements made here by 2010 removed sign lighting. 04/17/04
Historically SR 273 east combined with SR 4 east from Ogletown Road at the traffic light with Salem Church Road. Changes made here by 2014 added signal back plates. 04/17/04

A small guide sign directed motorists to Interstate 95 via SR 7 south from SR 4 east. It was removed by 2014. 12/22/08

A set of old Eagle signals remained in operation along SR 4 (Mitch Road) east at Stanton Road north until 2015. Mast arm signal assemblies replaced these and a similar set at the westbound intersection. 07/31/13
An overlay concealed an older guide sign at the southbound on-ramp for SR 141 (Newport Freeway) from SR 4 (Market Street) east in Newport. 07/31/04
Most traffic lights along SR 4 between Newport and Richardson Park were replaced during Summer 2004. Coinciding with cross walk additions and a sidewalk replacement, the set at Larch Avenue and Latimer Street was replaced again in 2012. 07/08/10

Nearing the Richardson Park business district on SR 4 east at Lorewood and Winston Avenues. Several 30 inch Eagle signals were located here. 05/01/04
SR100 (Dupont Road) south ends at SR 4 (Maryland Avenue). With Dupont Road entering the intersection as a one way street southbound, an unusual set of signals directed motorists on Dupont Road northbound to Maryland Avenue. 05/01/04
Span wire signals at Robinson Lane were replaced with mast arms as part of the project converting SR 4 from four lanes to a three lane boulevard with bike lanes. 12/30/16
The trailblazer for I-95 preceding Latimer Drive was removed during the road diet project along Maryland Avenue in Wilmington. 12/30/16

Overheads were added to Maryland Avenue east between I-95 and SR 48 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard) in the 1980s. The greenout for the SR 4 overhead covered Wilmington Boulevard, the original name of SR 48 south. 03/21/04

A 1960s-installed trailblazer for I-95 directed motorists from SR 4 (Maryland Avenue) west to Elm Street for Adams Street north. This assembly was replaced by August 2007. 03/21/04
Van Buren Street south and Lower Oak Street north come together as Maryland Avenue climbs out of the Christina River valley. Maryland Avenue was striped for four lanes, but with on-street parking permitted during non peak hours. 12/30/16
This span wire array of signal heads at Broom Street and Latimer Drive / Place was replaced with a mast arm assembly by 2014. 04/24/04
Three blocks west of the Wilmington city line is the signalized intersection with Alban Drive for Latimer Estates. Several older style Eagle signals remained in use along Maryland Avenue between Wilmington and Newport until Summer 2004. 04/24/04
