Delaware State Route 48


The trailblazer for SR 4 on Lancaster Avenue Jackson Street was removed during the 2021-22 Wilmington Viaduct project for I-95. 12/30/16

This sign bridge used to direct traffic from the merge of SR 48 (Martin Luther King, Jr Boulevard) east with Maryland Avenue to West Street and Downtown. 03/21/04

An overhead for Center City directed motorists onto U.S. 13 Business (Walnut Street) north. Wilmington Train Station is to the right. 03/30/04

The overhead for Center City at Front and King Streets was replaced in kind. It was subsequently removed during 2018-20 road work removing the "sweep" taking SR 48 northward onto U.S. 13 Business (Walnut Street). 12/18/16

Front Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard diverged at French Street, one block west of Walnut Street. The sweeping curve north to U.S. 13 Business will be removed in 2017-18. 03/30/04

Many 30 inch Eagle pedestal signals dating from the 1960s or 70s were used along 2nd Street westbound across the city of Wilmington. None of these remain today. 03/30/04

An original guide sign directed motorists onto Interstate 95 south from SR 48 (2nd Street) west from West Center City. 03/21/04
