3.6 miles from the county line is the first Jefferson County exit from I-20/59 serving Rock Mountain Lakes to the west. 08/10/02
Widening along I-20/59 from Tuscaloosa County to the split with I-459 was underway in 2002. This ground level sign was replaced an overhead assembly during that project. 08/10/02
This sign referencing truck through traffic to use I-459 fell down in 2020 and was subsequently removed. 06/06/17
I-20/59 northbound expanded to four lanes leading to the separation with Interstate 459 north. 08/10/02

This button copy sign posted one quarter mile ahead of Exit 113 to 18th Avenue was gone by 2011. The sign posts remained until at least 2016 before being removed. 11/04/09
The button copy sign for Exit 115 / Jaybird Road was replaced with a Clearview based sign by 2011. That replacement was knocked down in 2022 and subsequently removed. 11/04/09
The sign bridge at Exit 115 was removed sometime after 2014. A ground level sign for Jaybird Road was finally added here in 2022. 11/04/09
This pair of shields was posted beyond the half diamond interchange (Exit 119 B on I-20/59 south) with 34th Street and Avenue I. These were missing by 2008. 08/10/02
Button copy overheads on I-20/59 north at Exit 120. The SR 269 shield was the last known button copy state shield to survive along the Alabama Interstate system. Button copy shields for I-20/59 were replaced throughout Birmingham by October 2003. 08/10/02

The directional interchange joining I-20/59 with I-65 was locally known as "Malfunction Junction" due to the left side entrance and exit ramps associated with each direction. 10/20/12

Exit 124 A departed for I-65 southbound. The I-20/59 northbound roadway briefly crosses over the westbound roadway to accommodate left exit ramps. This configuration is also in place along I-65 at this exchange. 10/20/12
