Interstate 65 Alabama - North


An exit tab was added by 2003 on the guide sign for U.S. 84 at Evergreen. The towns of Excel and Repton are along the U.S. 84 corridor between Exit 93 and Monroeville. 10/04/01

SR 185 loops north from Greenville, crossing paths with I-65 for the first time at Exit 130. 04/13/12

SR 185 links I-65 north with SR 245 east as part of the truck route for SR10 around Greenville. 04/13/12

Sign changes made between 2005 and 2009 added Calera as a second control city with Saginaw for Exit 231 along I-65 north. 09/24/03

Replaced guide sign for U.S. 231 and Exit 231 along I-65 north at the second of two interchanges within the city of Calera. 07/15/05

Construction in 2001 expanded I-65 north to four overall lanes leading to the four-level interchange (Exit 250) with Interstate 459. 07/15/05

This original sign bridge with light fixtures remained in use along I-65 north at Exit 252 until 2010. 09/24/03

This overhead was replaced as construction expanded Exit 252 with U.S. 31 for Hoover and Vestavia Hills to two lanes by 2012. 08/10/02

In conjunction with an interchange refurbishment project in 2003 at "Malfunction Junction", ALDOT installed new sign bridges along both Interstates 65 and 20 & 59. This sign bridge was removed during that process. 08/10/02

The last original button copy sign posted along Interstate 65 northbound in Birmingham was this overhead for Exit 261A. The control cities for Exit 261A feature Atlanta for Interstate 20 east and Gadsden for Interstate 59 north. 02/11/01

The previous set of guide signs posted the Exit 261A partition from Interstate 65 northbound. The signs pictured here were not original, but the lighting fixtures and brackets were. Also note that Interstate 65 only carried two through lanes. 08/10/02

Six lanes of Interstate 65 passed through the diamond interchange (Exit 262B) with Finley Boulevard. This stretch was expanded to as many as 11 lanes by 2010. 08/10/02
