The I-80 westbound mainline defaults onto I-74 & I-280 west at south Colona. These signs posted within the cloverleaf interchange were replaced by October 2008. 09/04/05
Interstate 80 turns north at I-74 and I-280 through the city of Colona. The freeway quickly crosses paths with U.S. 6 at Exit 9. This sign was replaced by 2007 with a sign using Clearview font. The overhead was taken down in September 2011 and restored by 2013. The replacement omits the exit only placard. 09/04/05
Heading north through Colona, westbound drivers on Interstate 80 next meet Cleveland Road at Exit 7. 09/04/05

The half mile sign for Exit 4B to I-88 & IL-92 east was carbon copied to retain both a centered exit tab with right justification. Sterling and Rock Falls lie 45 miles to the northeast as secondary control cities. 09/04/05
Des Moines remains the control city of I-80 west at I-88 despite Bettendorf and Davenport still ahead. 09/04/05
Exit 4A loops onto the beginning of IL-5 west as it overlaps with IL-92 west through East Moline to Silvis. IL-5 was the original number of the East West Tollway. 09/04/05

Ground level signs formerly posted at the Exit 1 off-ramp replaced by an overhead when I-80 was expanded in 2009. Historically Illinois 84 was numbered as Illinois 80, forming a multi-state route with Wisconsin 80 to the north of Galena. 09/04/05

The Iowa welcome center for I-80 west referenced at Exit 1 was closed at the end of 2011. It was situated off of U.S. 67 via Eagle Ridge Road adjacent to Exit 306. 09/04/05
