I-635 Texas - West

Interstate 635 meets the Dallas North Tollway at a full-cloverleaf interchange (Exits 22C/D) near Inwood in north Dallas. The parallel frontage road system intersects the frontage roads of the tollway above the respective freeways. Exit 22B departed IH 635 westbound for Inwood Road north and Dallas Parkway south, the respective frontage roads of the Dallas North Tollway. The corridors of both highways are heavily developed with office complexes and shopping centers nearby. 10/21/03

Exit 22C provides a direct connection onto the Dallas North Tollway northbound to Addison, Plano and the suburbs of Collin County. The toll road ends at U.S. 380 on the Prosper city line. 10/21/03

Next in line for westbound travelers was the three-quarter diamond interchange (Exit 24) with Marsh Lane. Marsh Lane comprises a north-south arterial between Loop 12 (Northwest Highway) and FM 544 (Hebron Parkway) in the far northern suburbs. 10/20/03

Exit 24 departs Interstate 635 westbound to resume the westbound frontage road ahead of Marsh Lane. Marsh Lane intersects Valley View Lane and Spring Valley Road within two miles to the north and Forest and Royal Lanes within two miles to the south. The first sign for the impending junction with Interstate 35E (Exits 27B/C) was posted here. 10/20/03

Exit 25 consisted of this slip ramp onto the westbound frontage road just west of Marsh Lane for Webb Chapel Road and Josey Lane. Webb Chapel Road and Josey Lane comprises parallel north-south roads serving northwest Dallas and Farmers Branch. Josey Lane stems northward from Dennis Road and Forest Lane to Carrollton. Webb Chapel Lane travels south from Belt Line Road to Texas Loop 354 (Harry Hines Boulevard) and Bachman Lake. 10/20/03

Westbound before the stack at IH 35E, note the three digit interstates in two digit shields. This signing practice was a staple in the Dallas area during the early and mid 2000s. 10/21/03

A left-hand ramp takes two lanes west from the LBJ to the Stemmons Freeway south. This marks the end of the 1966 freeway headed westbound, and the beginning of the 1981 construction of IH 635. 10/19/03

IH 635 westbound at Valley View Lane in far northwest Dallas. 635 was routed over the former arterial in the late 1960s, and only relatively small portions of Valley View remain. 10/19/03
