Garden State Parkway North Archive

North of the Middlesex Reservoir, Parkway travelers pass under Westfield Avenue (CR 606) by this replaced guide sign. 07/27/07

This sign bridge at Exit 140 in Union Township for U.S. 22 east to New Jersey 82 was replaced by 2014. The new assembly did not include a new pull through panel for the Garden State Parkway north. 07/27/07

Passing over U.S. 22 west, the Garden State Parkway continued one mile north to Exit 142 with Interstate 78 east. The forthcoming junction was expanded between 2008 and 2011 to provide full access between the east-west freeway and north-south parkway. 07/27/07

The panel for Exit 142 (Interstate 78 east) was removed by 2011 as a new series of overheads was added for the now Exits 142A and B. 07/27/07

Crossing the Elizabeth River, drivers along the GSP northbound entered the Union Toll Plaza. All interests to Interstate 78 via Exit 142 were directed to the right hand set of booths. Motorists bound for I-78 west were directed to U-turn at the subsequent eastbound exit. 07/27/07

This overhead for Exit 142 preceded the separate set of booths for Interstate 78 was removed. Tolls for the Union Toll Plaza increased from 75 cents to $1.00 and then $1.50 by 2013. 07/27/07
