The Augusta area rest area was closed by 2005 and motorists were initially advised to seek local accommodations in the Augusta area or remain on the freeway through to the next facility near Pittsfield. The Maine Turnpike constructed the West Gardiner Service Plaza at Exit 102. The service area opened to motorists in 2007. 06/27/05

A look at Interstate 95 north just ahead of Exit 109 before construction of big box retail dramatically changed the adjacent forest line. 06/27/05

This full sign bridge posted for U.S. 201 at Exit 133 was replaced with a side mounted overhead by 2011. 06/27/05

The diagrammatic sign for Exit 25 and Kennebunk Service Plaza was removed by 2011. Instead a series of service area signs accompany signage for the Maine 35 interchange. 06/28/05

Interstate 95 south at Exit 7 to U.S. 1 and SR 91 at York Center. Note the New Jersey style of combining like named places as "The Berwicks" and Yorks, the way that NJDOT displays the Oranges and the Ridgefields. The replacement sign displays just York and York Beach. 06/27/05

This sign was replaced by 2013 and updated to display Kittery Foreside in place of Dennett Road. 07/29/07

Sign replacements made at the Exit 1 sign bridge also included the replacement of Exit 2 to reflect Kittery Center and Memorial Circle in place of Traffic Circle and Downtown. 07/29/07

Entering the three-quarter cloverleaf interchange with Maine 236 on Interstate 95 north. Again a sign replacement was made for Exit 2 (Maine 236) by 2013. 07/29/07

Fletcher Street passes over Interstate 95 ahead of the Exit 25 ramp split between Maine 35 and the Kennebunk Service Plaza. Alewive Road carries the state route 5.5 miles to Days Mills, and 6.75 miles to junction Maine 111 at Lyman. Maine 35 continues north from Lyman to Standish and North Windham. This diagrammatic sign was replaced with a Kennebunk Service Plaza sign by 2011. 07/29/07
