Interstate 165 Alabama Archive

I-165 prior to the truncation of U.S. 43 north to Bay Bridge Road and former guide signs along Interstate 165 in Prichard and Mobile, Alabama.

The overhead for U.S. 43 was replaced on July 1, 2001, as the nearby Telegraph Road overpass permanently closed and U.S. 43 was truncated northward to U.S. 90 (Bay Bridge Road). The overhead for I-165 was replaced by November 2001 to show the overlap with U.S. 90 east. 06/11/11

An interchange sequence sign for the city of Prichard stood beyond the state docks railroad lines. Exits 2, 1C, and 1B constitute slip ramps onto the adjacent frontage road system. 10/25/03

Signs for Exit 2 were amended in July 2001 to show U.S. 90 east for Bay Bridge Road. U.S. 90 was realigned onto I-165 in 1999. 06/11/11

Green outs applied in 2001 added US 90 with Bay Bridge Road at the two-lane off-ramp for Exit 2. 10/25/03

The final confirming marker for I-165 was posted above Whistler Street. Removed by 2011, this assembly was installed in Summer 2001. 09/28/08

Greenouts were installed in June 2001 for Exit 2 to reflect the U.S. 90 relocation onto Bay Bridge Road and I-165 south. 06/11/11

Signs were initially redesigned to display US 90 in text for Exit 2. The overheads were subsequently replaced by January 2002. 06/11/11
