One sees that a lot in parts of the world that have no forests to build with wood.  Rigid masonry that fails during even a modest earthquake and anyone inside is libel to get killed.  That same quake in Japan or California would have killed a dozen people, tops.

Felt a small earthquake tonight, which seems to have been felt all over the Salish Sea.

If a modest sized earthquake kills hundreds or thousands of people, that's how you can tell your human development index is pretty low.

Of course I say that living in a place where sustainable forestry is an easy reality.  Lumber is gonna be way more expensive when practically one's entire country is above the timberline, so they're stuck with masonry for most structures.

Here is one story on the West Napa Fault. Its another case of we need to pay attention to other earthquake faults in Northern California besides Hayward and San Andreas faults the next time a 6.0 and above quake hits.

That was a brief, but photogenic eruption.  That town ain't in the clear yet as that system's still got magma on the move, so watch out for another eruption this winter.
