Hi there.  Finally decided to stop lurking and start posting.

I've been pouring over maps since the tender age of 3, memorizing the routes in my area, and functioning as navigator for many trips to many places. I came through here a few years back, but never registered. Recently I rediscovered this site, decided to correct my mistake...and here I am. ;-)

I thought I'd introduce myself by sharing two photos that should give a very good idea of what I'm particularly interested in.

You never know what you'll find on some random Virginia SR...

Hello, welcome, and enjoy your stay here!  :)  Nice photos too.
Life would be boring if we didn't take an offramp every once in a while

From Northern Kentucky (and a former Virginian), welcome.  Looking forward to seeing your photos!
I don't need a GPS.  I AM the GPS! (for family and friends)

This was one of my favorite finds a few years back.  AFAIK it is the last white border SR shield in Eastern Virginia.  I was happy to see it was still there in March.

Hopefully you have found some Virginia old signs galleries such as http://www.vahighways.com/oldsigns/oldsigns.htm and also most of the pictures at http://www.millenniumhwy.net/summa/summa.html

Well, as it turns out, your site is exactly how I found out that shield existed... :)

Here is the old alignment. It's really only been abandoned for about a decade or so, but you certainly wouldn't know that from looking at it. Watch out - there's heavy overgrowth in some sections, and that includes poison ivy.
