Still a better name than any of the proposed ones.

It appears that another "Harambe Memorial Bridge" has popped up in Florida--this time for the Cross Florida Greenway Bridge over I-75.  :spin:

Are the two Harambe Memorial Bridges named after the same person?

Heh.  Someone needs to Google "Harambe."

Yes, George Harambe (1896 - 1977) was a former politician who served in SC and FL.

I took Rothman's suggestion, and the search engine came up with a gorilla that lived in both a Brownsville and then a Cincinatti Zoo from 1999-2016: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harambe. I doubt that a bridge in either South Carolina or Florida would be named after a gorilla who never resided in a zoo in either state, but stranger things have happened.

I don't find it hard to believe that someone would have dug themselves under so large a rock to have missed out on the Harambe mourning Internet craze.

“Dicks out for Harambe” is still one of the all time great campaign slogans.

Doesn't look like they read the OP's article, either.  Spells out right there in the first paragraph that it was named after the gorilla.

while it would be very meme worthy, i do hope nobody actually flashes their d out on the bridge in front of motorists.
there was some people who actually went to the area 51 site to "free the aliens", those same people pretty much took the meme seriously., but were arrested.

FWIW, I strongly believe the day he was killed is the day everything truly went to shit on Earth.

I would want to agree, but it was either the day Adam and Eve got the knowledge or the day the Cain slew Abel.
