... since the old one kinda started going around in circles, we will do one that is guaranteed to go forward.

the rule is: each new poster posts a photo of a sign with a number one higher than the current photo.

we will start at 166.  it's as good a number as any to start at, and will get rid of all the common numbers that we've likely already seen in the old thread.

so, someone find a 167.

I noticed the "COUNTY" patch in the lower left of the sign.  Does that mean it's a former state route that's now a county route?

In some cases, yes, it meant that it was a former state route downgraded to county status at some point. In this case the route was once known as Florida State Road 181 but in the late 1970's the state relinquished a lot of state roads (such as this one) to the counties to maintain. So, for the state to distinguish between state and county maintained roads, these county stickers were affixed to the signs. For former state highway shields who bore an "S" in front of the number, such as "S-275", a "C" sticker was affixed over the "S" and the "COUNTY" sticker was affixed to the lower left.

I hope this explanation helps! :)
