Another RIP thread... Again. It's a shame. He seemed like a cool guy

Please don't tell me it's covid related otherwise I would scream...jk

Thank goodness. Did some research and the cause of death was lymphoma.

I didn't really care for his incarnation of Family Feud, but he was able to get the show back off the ground after it being off the air for four years.

I don't care for the Steve Harvey version at all (or Steve Harvey, for that matter), so I guess it's debatable whether bringing it back was a good thing.

I would say that Steve Harvey is actually the closest to Richard Dawson as we've got on the current revival. Steve Harvey will actually display some personality and react to the answers the contestants give, be they good or bad. It's much better than, say, Richard Karn, who simply smiled and nodded along and said "Good answer" even when the answer made no degree of logical sense.

I know some people don't really care for the somewhat raunchier turn that Family Feud has made under Harvey, but, well...even that goes back to the show's roots as a Match Game spinoff.

I remember watching Family Feud from childhood. When it returned to air again, I did not know the names of the Hosts, and confused Louie Anderson for an aged Ray Combs. It was not until John O'Hurley became Host I learned about Ray Combs's death. And it is startling now that Louie Anderson is dead as well.

I wish Chuck Woolery would have hosted it for some time; he was my favorite game show host.

The revived Family Feud was great until Steve Harvey took ownership of the show and milked its format for shock value (in fact I just voiced my disgust for this in another thread). Louie Anderson wasn't the greatest game show host but he did succeed in reviving it, and the next few hosts did a great job with it.

I grew up watching Life with Louie on Saturday mornings and enjoyed it.

His stand-up routine about borrowing his dad's Pontiac Bonneville is a classic for anyone who's borrowed their parents' car(s).

And the one about how he's trying to eat healthy, so he goes to McDonalds and orders something healthy, and they're like "do you want fries with that?"  "Yeah, I'll take that basket of fries over there"

I wonder if he revived it because he was so bad at hosting it.

Drew Carey was abysmal when he took over for Bob Barker, but he made it his own after a few seasons.
