Pennsylvania state marker for a West Virginia state route

West Virginia county route marker for a West Virginia state route

West Virginia state route marker for a Kentucky state route

New York state route marker for a New Jersey state route (I'm sure someone has a better picture than this; I know I have a better picture but not sure where to find it.)

Suggestion for a challenge: Yesterday was Elvis Presley's birthday. In honor of that, post signs featuring the names of famous people.

I've been off-line this entire weekend; so I'm playing a little bit of catch-up here (I hope no one minds).
QuoteJanuary 7: Post a picture of two or more BGSs mounted to something other than a gantry.

Since signposts aren't gantries; how about 2 BGS' sharing the same signposts?  I'm suprised that nobody picked up on this.

QuoteJanuary 8 challenge: 'BEGIN' route markers

I-40 westbound entering Albuquerque. It's subtle, but that I-40 shield should be a Business Loop I-40 shield.

And a Clark County CR 215 shield posted on I-215 westbound near Las Vegas. CR 215 doesn't begin until after I-15, several miles west of here.

Massachusetts does this a lot, using circle shields instead of square shields. This is on MA 32 in Palmer.

All righty then:

Challenge: Post signs featuring the names of famous people on them.

Rules:
—Official road/highway signs only.
—Must include at least first and last name.
—Exclude signs giving only commemorative or ceremonial highway names.
—Exclude persons already honored on official currency or with a national holiday.

Sounds like a lot of rules, but I bet it'll still yield good results!

True, though at least two (Hamilton, Cleveland) would be ineligible for this Challenge.

Famous is relative too... For someone who isnt familiar with sports some of the players would mean nothing to them

I didn't write the above-criteria & the OP didn't imply such a restriction; so using a facility/roadway (like the Ted Williams Tunnel) named after a (Boston) sports figure is 100% fair game.

I would like to exclude politicians who had stuff named after themselves. Like Robert Byrd from West Virginia

I'm not going to bother posting all the Kentucky parkway signs after politicians' names were officially added to them.

And the original criteria was obviously meant to exclude an overload of MLK Jr. postings.

But how about this?

That's basically the idea behind excluding purely ceremonial and commemorative names.
