62° outside at 8:00. Very unusual to have it cool enough to open the windows at this time of year.

Horrible scenes out of New York this morning. I'm glad my meeting there today is via videoconference. Sounds like this morning's Amtrak service is suspended north of Philadelphia due to all the flooding.

Even cooler here, at 57° when I left home. And remarkably clear, in contrast to downstate...

Likewise for me, it was 61° when I left this morning but the first time since before summer that I felt chilly getting into my car.

Also realizing this morning how lucky my area was to receive rainfall still within storm drain capacity and no tornado damage...among other things, I've seen a house with its entire roof ripped off southwest of Annapolis, and the Vine Street Expressway completely underwater in Central Philly.  Hearing the Schuylkill River is expected to crest at a new record high level at some point this morning.

We were very lucky yesterday, our neighborhood didn't get a lot of rain (couple of very intense downpours, but all of them were quite brief) and we are well away from the three tornadoes reported in Maryland. No flooding around us. My mom lives a few miles away near Fairfax City and a couple of the usual roads near her were flooded, at least one of which (Woodburn Road, for those who know the area) has routinely flooded for as long as I can remember going back to the 1970s, but even that flooding was nothing compared to what Maryland got. The school bus that got stranded by a flash flood in Frederick County, Maryland, made the national news last night. The bus driver was found not to be at fault–the road was clear and then apparently the flash flood came out of nowhere (which, of course, is what flash floods do).

It's been in the upper 40s the last couple mornings here in the Seattle region. Still getting into the mid-70s with brilliant sunshine during the day.

Around 70 with clouds and rain
We had numerous Severe Tstorm Warnings last night.
Now 74 and rainy. I heard thunder just now! :wow: :colorful:

Atlanta has been very good at getting missed by storms lately. In the past couple days, some intense severe thunderstorms and flash flooding have hit parts of the north metro, but Atlanta has been just a bit too far south to get anything from those. Then we got totally missed by Mindy - which is a little weird because the vast majority of Florida panhandle storms usually get us in at least some way.

Looks like we will have a week or so of nice dry, warm weather here. A little boring, sure, but I will take the lower dewpoints any day.

The past week was really nice with highs in the low to mid 90s and lows in the upper 70s with low humidity. Today's high was around 85 with a bit more humidity (not quite uncomfortable, but not ideal).

All week it's been sunny, but that's about to change.

Invest 94L (potential TS Nicholas) will head up this way and potentially drop a foot of rain on the SE Texas coast. I'm right in the current bullseye. Luckily the ground is dry and the rivers are running below average, so the biggest threat is flash floods, not river flooding. I personally think this event will be more like Beta last year rather than Harvey or Imelda, but I'm not counting out greater impacts.

It'll be rainy all next week, with highs in the 80s.
