Reno, at altitude about 4400 feet ASL, has a shot at an all-time record high temperature coming up this weekend.  From the Weather Service this morning:

Quote...if the official forecast of 107 occurs on Saturday, it will be the first time KRNO has reached that temperature for a high, and the second highest temp on record for the region. For context, KRNO has reached 106 degrees 3 times in climate history (7/20/1931, 7/4/2007, and 9/6/2022) and the all-time record of 108 degrees 3 times as well (7/10/2002, 7/11/2002, and 7/5/2007).

Excessive Heat Warning for North Texas until Thursday, July 13th.

Extended through Friday, July 14th. Which means running errands in the morning before it really gets hot hot hot. Of course, the overnight low was 83℉

Not my weather (because it's an unremarkable 88° and humid), but the deserts are being deserdy.

(Daggett is apparently this region's "town that exists only on 90s Weather Channel maps", for what it's worth. In Oklahoma, that was Gage.)

78 and cloudy with rain expected. Most of Eastern Mass. is under a tornado watch (and tornado warning in NH).

hotdogPi

"Slight" chance of tornadoes.

According to the "Interstate" layer here, the following are Interstates: the freeway section of MA 2, the lone section of MA 128, US 201 north of I-95, US 1 from Brunswick ME to Bath ME, a nonexistent road north of that that's too far north to be ME 9, Florida's Turnpike, US 131 from Kalamazoo to Cadillac, US 97 north of I-90, US 191 south of I-10, US 287 between I-44 and DFW, the Indian Nation Turnpike south of I-40, a composite corridor starting along US 412 (from I-35) through Tulsa, Muskogee, and ending at I-40, OH 11 north of I-80, two northern extensions of I-35 (the obvious one and US 53), US 57, the Garden State Parkway, US 83 and 85 north of I-94, US 20 toward Rexburg ID, and many more. But they're missing most of I-22 and I-41.

Under the Western "Heat Dome" on Sunday, July 16:

Reno Airport tied its all time record high, at 108°F.

South Lake Tahoe set a record high for the date at 93°F.  The all time record high is 99°F, reached once in July 1988.

The Furnace Creek visitor center's high temperature today was 128°F, also a record for the date (previously 127°F in 2005).
