Highest Milepost = Route Number

Since lower numbers are generally reserved for longer routes, I'm curious what the highest milepost matching a route number is.

MN 210 has a milepost 210 located somewhere between I-35 and McGrath, but I'm assuming other US routes win in other states.

US441 in Florida is 8 miles too short, so I'm guessing US412 is likely the winner (for all highways, not just US Routes).

Edit - Although I think US412 is concurrent with US64 where it would cross mileage marker 412.  Trying to GSV it, but not seeing any mileage markers at all.  Might not be it after all.  US400 seems like the most likely candidate then.

I'll just mention outright here that none of the 3di make the cut. There was one that was in planning and cancelled in the past that would make it: I-175 between Chattanooga and Lexington, about 250 miles long. The closest existing one is I-135, at 96 miles long.

For non-US highways, ON 401 is an obvious candidate.

It depends on how stringently you apply the term "milepost". ODOT's internal accounting, and thus what is posted in the field, is done on the basis of "control sections", which are portions of highway bounded by major junctions and county lines. Mileage resets every time a highway changes to a new control section, meaning it functionally resets at both county lines and major junctions. Thus, while US-412 has an interchange at the point it is 412 miles from the New Mexico line, the mileage there is only 8.10, since that's the mileage for control section 72-86 (which is carried as a US-64 control section anyway, so it probably wouldn't be posted even if Oklahoma posted statewide mileage).   

Oklahoma doesn't normally post mileage once per mile on conventional roads. Instead, it's posted on markers like this at intersections and bridges. (This particular marker is on control section 44-42 at mile 03.16. The "44" is the ODOT county number for McClain County.)

As for Indiana, US 231 is the highest for any road type. IN 135 would be the highest for state highways, and I-90 for interstates.

Minnesota's would be TH 20, a short 7-mile connector.

Colorado's longest with a mile marker has to be US 287, for any road type.
Its longest without a mile marker is definitely CO 3, unless you count county routes.

Continuing with Minnesota: how long is MN 371? Anyway, US 169 in Minnesota has a MM 169 - is US 212 long enough for MM 212?

Anyway, as for Missouri: we don't post mile markers on non-interstates, but if we did, I'm pretty sure the highest matching one would be MO 100.

Of course, one can always combine some weird numbering rules, distance markers placed 1.609344 times closer and no resetting upon crossing a subdivision line (community in this case) and get this .

(That amounts to about 391.5 miles, shorter than US 412 in Oklahoma though)

The highest-numbered route in Utah with a milepost greater than its own route number is US 191, which runs 404 miles in the state.

The lowest-numbered route with a total mileage less than its route number is easily SR 8, which is just a little over one mile long.

Kentucky really won't have very many possibilities, since mile markers reset by county except for the interstates and parkways. So our winner would be I-75 at mile marker 75. Our highest possible state route candidate only runs 72.819 in one county (KY 194 in Pike County). If I had to guess, our highest state route would be KY 30, which logs well more than 30 miles in Breathitt County. There might be a county in which one of the US 31 branches runs 31 miles or more.

Aside from Minnesota, another state that uses conventional mile markers on US and state highways is its southern neighbor of Iowa. In that state, I know that both IA 141 and IA 175 are rather long for a 3-digit highway - are either of them long enough to have their corresponding mile marker? I believe IA 175 is, but I'm not sure.

In Michigan, it would be US 131 which has an exit 131 at the southern end of the M-20 overlap near Big Rapids. (Honorable mention to US 127, which has exits 127A and 127B for the northern ends of the business loops at Alma and St. Louis.)

For Interstates in Michigan, the answer is I-96. (Honorable mention to I-75 which has an exit 75 for the southern end of BL I-75 near Pontiac.)

For state highways, the answer is M-28, the only non-freeway state highway to have mile markers. There are other higher-numbered state highways with mile markers, but they lack a freeway segment at the appropriate location.

M-5 appears to be the lowest numbered highway in Michigan without a corresponding mile marker, although it should have a MM 5. It looks like the mileposts don't reflect the actual distance from the origin. M-8 is the lowest highway with mile markers that is too short to have one matching its designation.

Wyoming has a few of these: WYO 11 is 10.94 miles long and WYO 12 is 12.18 miles long.

A few almost make it: WYO 10 is 9.12 miles long, WYO 32 is 31.48 miles long, and WYO 50 is 52.67 miles long.

In Louisiana, the highest interstate with a matching mile marker is I-55.

Highest US route is US 190.

Highest state route is LA 82 although LA 182 is very close to having 182 miles.

Lowest state route without a matching mile marker is LA 30.
