Now that Christmas is coming to an end, this is the bonus question for all of us, and I lifted the question from a song about the next holiday coming up:

What are you doing New Year's Eve?

Since the Christmas thread didn't include a poll, I'm throwing one in this time, and the same three options apply: stay home, go local, or head outta town. As mentioned in the other thread, my wife's family is going back to San Diego tomorrow, but I will entertain my daughter and her fiancé at home next week.
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!

I'd like to go somewhere but my wife will probably want to do a midnight countdown with her friends.

It's my In-Law's anniversary.  While my FIL passed away several years ago, we still either take my MIL out or my wife will cook a nice dinner for her mom, and we'll stay in, play games, eat, and have beverages.

My routine for New Year's Eve day is to do some roadtripping and hiking, getting home just as it's getting dark.  Get gradually bombed while making a pot of pasta and sauce for dinner.  This year, I think we're going to assemble a lasagna from scratch.  Then just stay home and watch some TV or maybe a movie.  We'll flip to the Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's show at the last minute just to watch the ball drop, but other than that we don't watch any of the New Year's party shows.

Bruce

Going to watch some fireworks from far away, then get up the next day to go see the NHL Winter Classic festivities.

Hunty2022

Likely staying home to end off this amazing year for my traveling. I am planning to take a better version of my first photo of 2023 as my first of 2024.

I'll be working until 11 pm (and no later, selfish customers notwithstanding), and then I'm hightailing it to count down the year with my boyfriend with a charcuterie board and something bubbly.

How do we see the poll results?

Probably something local, we have a few options from friends.
The local weatherman, trust me I can be 99.9% right!

I'll be holed up at home as is always the case.

Vikings game will be on. I haven't decided if I'll try to go or not, depends on if ticket prices dip to an acceptable range.

Will be home in the evening, but, otherwise, I'll be out doing my annual end of year railfanning, most likely over in Decatur.
It's all fun & games until someone summons Cthulhu and brings about the end of the world.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

I'll be home and quite possibly asleep by the time the ball drops.

Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

Normally I spend the time with my family. However, I will be in Milwaukee this time around, because I'm putting some hours in at an internship.

I will either find a party somewhere around here and wallflower, or drink alone and play Minecraft. I could also take the bus out to Waukesha or something and shop at Farm and Fleet for fun.
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

If the weather isn't horrible, maybe I'll go to the little gathering on Fountain Square in Cincinnati, even though it's a very tame event. That's what I did the past 2 years. For some reason, they canceled the event to ring in 2021, so instead I gathered with family that year. For years before that, I usually watched the Times Square stuff on TV, but it's gotten so idiotic that I try to avoid it now. There was a time years ago when I couldn't even watch that, because our local ABC affiliate decided 'New Year's Rockin' Eve' was too controversial and preempted it.
Might as well face it, pooing is cool

We "celebrate" the new year on Newfoundland time (10:30 Eastern) so we can go to sleep.

Notre Dame has a tradition of having a home hockey game on NYE. We are taking the kids to the game, have late dinner reservations for after the game, and a hotel right across from campus. Only way I can stay up until midnight anymore is to keep myself busy past 11pm.

Stay home since I will be departing on a trip a few days afterward.
I'm an Engineer. That means I solve problems. Not problems like "What is beauty?", because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems and call them "paychecks".

I have to be at my store at 5 a.m. Jan. 1 to receive a freight truck. So I will be leaving the partying to the amateurs once again.

Arriving home from a flight at 1 AM. Then I have the rest of the day at home.

No. My flight arrives 23 hours before the new year and has nothing to do with the new year itself; it's the end of a Christmas trip.

Hopefully the truck driver is not one of those partying.

I will most likely be going to the somewhat local casino with a work friend, although I will assume the slots will be crowded like the other time I went on NYE.
