Opposite of yesterday. Beautiful sunny clear day, temperature in the high 40s. Bonus: Mount Hood is clearly visible to the right of that tall building.

Well, first winter storm of 2022/23 is coming full circle very early in the late night into Wednesday night, which will definitely make the roads in and out of Missoula slick with blowing and drifting snow in play. This is not gonna be pretty.
QuoteWINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 8 PM MST
WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5
inches in Missoula proper, 5 to 8 inches in the Bitterroot
Valley. North winds 15 to 25 mph in the Bitterroot Valley will
cause blowing snow reducing visibility to less than one quarter
mile at times. Winds are expected to slowly diminish in the
afternoon.

* WHERE...Missoula/Bitterroot Valleys.

* WHEN...From 1 AM to 8 PM MST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Tropical storm warning for me here in Tallahassee with Nicole currently bearing down on the Florida east coast. Unlike Ian, which shifted so far east that we got nothing at all here, every forecast update seems to bring the storm further west and thus more impacts to here. As of now, winds around 30-40mph and gusts potentially nearing 60mph are expected here along with 2-4 inches of rain.

I saw some forecasts for this early week storm that had 24"-36" of snow at lake level at South Lake Tahoe.  That didn't quite happen.  I don't usually do any formal measurement, just guess by the amount of shoveling and snowblowing I have to do, but I would say maybe 12"-14" over 60 hours thanks to a final overnight burst that I woke up to this morning.

So the ski resorts have a respectable start, maybe a week or 10 days earlier than the average, and with continued cold weather forecast for the next several days they will be able to add plenty of the man-made stuff on top of what nature brought.

It was about 70 out today but will be getting colder.

In Laredo, with a high temperature of 92 degrees yesterday, that now makes 224 days of 90+ degrees in the year 2022, which now sets its new record breaking the previous record of 223 days; the annual average in a year is only about 176 days per year.

Corpus Christi has also broken its own record with 186 days of 90+ degrees in 2022, overtaking the previous record of 181 days; average annual is only 144 days.

McAllen also broke its own record with 229 days of 90+ degrees in 2022, breaking the previous record of 226 days; average annual is only 182 days.

With still seven more weeks left to go before the end of this year, those numbers could quite possibly climb just a little bit more as we have seen 90+ degrees in December before; indeed Brownsville and McAllen averages at least day in the 90s every December.
