At noon on Sunday of Labor Day weekend, 51°F with steady rain.  100 or so miles northeast of here, thousands of people are stuck in a giant mudhole in the middle of the Nevada desert, a situation that probably isn't improving much today.

I guess it was stupid of me to ever question it (though "it's not the heat, it's the humidity" does get old fast when it's 97 degrees to begin with). A week and a half ago in Madison it was the same temp except with 70-80% humidity as opposed to today's 30%. The former was a different level of hot.

Once you hit temperatures at or above your average body temp, everything is hot. Even the breeze that would normally give you a brief cooling effect just feels hot.

73 in Missoula with moderate thundershowers and thunderstorms. The weather service in Missoula issued a Special Weather Statement for this one rain cell until 7:45 MDT tonight. Had some very close strikes, so far, none has hit ground where I'm at, but the thunder is damn loud!

[Addendum to OP] - Flood Advisory for Missoula County, MT until 9:15 MDT tonight for torrential rainfall from a thunderstorm producing winds exceeding 30 MPH and minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent within the advisory area.

Pretty nice weather today. 85, dew point 65 (50% humidity). Cloudy, but slowly getting sunnier. Tomorrow looks very sunny, but back into the upper 80s, around 90, and slightly more humid.

Future looks wetter, and stormy. But no typhoons, so that's nice.
