I'm having some difficulty with the application in Internet Explorer 6 and 8; could anyone please tell me if it is working for them on those browsers?  If so: which o/s and version of the flash player do you have installed?  I'm trying IE6 on WinXP SP3 and IE8 on Win7, with flash 10.0.42.34.

wait, no ... just reset the cache and IE8 is working fine, except that the application width is 480 pixels, instead of 500.  Hmm ...???

thanks!  Is the right side of the application cut off?  (easiest way to tell is that the centering buttons to move the text to the right would be missing if it were)

No problems here in IE-8 v8.0.7600.16385 (32bit); W7 64-bit. Flash: 10,1,51,66

Works fine here too (IE8, Vista 32 bit, whatever the latest Flash version is)

great, thanks for all the feedback!

looks like it may have to do with the 64 bit version of IE8 not supporting Flash completely

64-bit IE shouldn't support Flash (no 64-bit version yet). That's why there's still a 32-bit version of IE included with the x64 OSes.

Yeah, I remember that.  My newest desktop has 64-bit Vista.

I don't know whether it just loads a 32-bit version or what, but Firefox has no problem on that machine!  :sombrero:

Well, I know in Windows 7 64bit, the default version of IE is the 32bit one.  You have to manually start the 64bit IE if you want to use it.  (I personally use the 64bit IE on sites that have flash on it that I don't want to see.  Makes loading pages faster. haha.)

How come I can only make interstate shields, old US markers, modern South Carolina, old California, Oklahoma, and Oregon route markers?

The reason is because that's all the shapes that Jake has in SVG format for this project so far.

Also, if Jake's up for it, I can provide him with SVG files for FL 1d/2d, FL 3d/4d, and the FL Toll shield.

He plans on adding many additional shield base options, but is on the road for the next few weeks...

Couldn't we just use Wikipedia?  That's where I get all my route shields.

Not really. Everything I draw is done using Paint.

Wikipedia's current shields are about the best that you'll find anywhere on the internet, and they're probably the only source of vector shields you'll find, but there are limitations. Due to copyright restrictions, our coverage of turnpike shields is worse than it otherwise could be, and since we don't have access to the correct specifications and fonts, older shields are likely to be rather inaccurate.

well, perhaps if you like modern shields, and/or designs I came up with myself and passed on to Wikipedia to throw them a bone.

want the best highway markers on the internet?  see the AARoads page, and buy one from me  :sombrero:

(and for the lazy sorts that wonder why I just haven't been able to come up with every single design known to man, in no time flat ... well, it takes time and effort - if you want to do it right, knock yourself out.  But don't do it wrong - there have been far too many that have done it wrong.)

bitch bitch bitch.

moan moan moan.

look, if you want something for free, sit back and wait until it becomes free.  Until then, either do the work yourself, or appreciate those who do it on your behalf, noting duly that the effort it takes is "too hard".

yeah but any idiot can find those just by looking up the current standards, and a few photos of what is out there in the field in the current day.  Where are you going to find the 1948 Alabama US highway standard?  Not on Wikipedia, for sure.

I know this takes time and effort, but please don't bash those of us that don't have the skills to do this on our own.  I have the artistic ability of a piece of toast.
