At the corner of Arch and Monroe Streets in New Britain, CT, during a morning power outage in the summer of 2013. I'm almost positive that these same signals were there in 1978.

The city bought, reburbished and used those old signals fo a few years until another streets cape project wiped them out with new signals that have the new ODOT yellow-bordered backplates.

(this is one of my favorites since it shows the older 50's generation arrows)

Those aren't 50s-generation arrows, that configuration was installed in the early-70s, plus the broad arrows got phased out with LEDs.

Cape Cod has a few old signal arrays.

Here's one in Chatham near my vacation home:

Wow, and those are still hung by the red.  The only thing they're missing to be completely retro is the 12-8-8 three lamp side signals.

These aren't current, but before DuPage County redid 55th St in Westmont, 55th and Cass had some really old and interesting signals.  The post-mounted 5-section heads were 12-8-8-12-12.  Idk if I've ever seen that before, anywhere else.

Nice find.  There were a few more locations like that, but University Pkwy and IL-53 in Romeoville used to have a 12-8-8-8 setup with, I kid you not, an 8 inch arrow, green only, no yellow.

I found this one last week on Central at 35th: https://goo.gl/maps/mFda6DbTQu92

Very classic Illinois, with the 12-8-8 side signals.

A signal on Lalor and Beatty Streets in Trenton:  Street faces a one-way street going the opposite way.  you have a 4 headed signal with green left and right arrows overhead, but standard RYG signals on posts.  Argument could be made 3 headed post signals are for pedestrians, but then that would conflict with the green arrows for motorists.

I'm not much a traffic light guy. But even I knew this relic on Alabama Street at Fort Boulevard in Central El Paso has been around a while.

I'm interested to hear what y'all think of it.

^^ That truss just screams Wisconsin.

Here is an old dummy directional signal in Latrobe, PA.  It stands at the point where PA 981 splits into dual one-way streets entering downtown Latrobe.

PA has quite a few older setups surviving:

These will all be replaced by 2017 due to a PA signal replacement program.

This is the intersection of Westwood Ave. and Tomlynn St. in Henrico County right outside of Richmond, Va. (oddly enough you will be back in the city driving either direction on Westwood). These are the only signals I have ever seen like this in my life. The green is the only small bulb on the assembly... GSV image

This is from the intersection of Richmond-Henrico Tpk. and Azalea Ave in Henrico County also right outside of the city. The box signal is newer than the much older other signals but STILL has a bigger red... GSV image

Here's a set of 1970s-era 12" Eagle flatbacks. I took these pictures on Sunday. This is in Upper Dublin, PA. You've gotta love the diagnal mast-arms from the first two pictures. Unfortunately, these will be replaced within a decade.

Saw these Eagle Flatbacks on Monday in Wichita, Kansas:

Here's an old Eagle flatback, it's malfunctioning because the arrow stays simotanuesly lit with all the other indications.

Here's a close-up of another one of the Eagle signals that I found the other day.

Then we have a Safetran grouped up with slightly older Eagles, on an angled mast-arm.

Here are some old and mismatched signals I saw in Zanesville, Ohio. I posted a bunch more from Zanesville over in the Traffic Control section, but I'm not sure if they're all "old."

Here are some from the city of Hudson, New York. These green arrows look like an afterthought...

Some of these signal arrangements look really heavy; it almost seems silly how long of a hanger (?) the signals on the ends have to account for the "droop" in the cable.

Here's an odd intersection with only one signal for each direction of traffic:

Tired old signals in Terryville, CT:

There's a whole bunch of old, damaged, or mis-matched signals along the Post Road in SW CT; these are in Southport/Fairfield:
