Difference between a bridge and a culvert

The B&B folks on the railroad (in this case, Norfolk Southern) would call it a culvert.  But railroaders do tend to refer to grade segregations as underpasses and overpasses.  [B&B means the railroad's Bridges and Buildings Engineering Department].

Road Hog:
To me, if it has piers, it's a bridge and if it doesn't, it's a culvert.
