I'm surprised that someone has a picture of an overhead S- route from Florida, and how nothing has changed with that type of sign in 41 years.
I have overhead S-route photos from Sample Rd. when it was S-834 instead of 834.  www.alpsroads.net/roads/fl/fl_834

Those would have been awesome to see in real life. But, with Jim Lindsay's picture, it's the rectangular overhead signs on non-expressway routes that still look the same. Thought they would have had keys on them, at least.

With the picture on your site, it's odd they didn't use a cut-out for it.
So many roads...so little time.

I added a bunch of New York photos that Michael Summa sent me, and Brent uploaded some photos from the trip he and Alex took to Michigan.

also updated some of the site infrastructure ... now the sales page displays more than just a moose!

Since I'll be driving all of I-59 in a couple months and all over AL in general... please message me as to where I might find the more interesting finds?  Thank you!

A photo I wish I had gotten during my trek down I-59 last year, but for some reason didn't get, was the sign with the logo for the country music group Alabama on it near Fort Payne. There was a slight brouhaha in my office earlier in the year about how a sign with the logo for a country music group ("Halfway to Hazard") wasn't MUTCD compliant and should be replaced with a sign without the logo if the sign ever became damaged or went missing. This on a small sign at a county line on a rural two-lane road ... and here the group Alabama's logo is plastered on a big green guide sign on an interstate!

Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

added several hundred new shields - mainly Ohio, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania, with the occasional other state, including some nice older California shields.

Some photos from the Caltrans library coming soon, featuring 1950s guide signs; I just have to get the written permissions to display them, which should be straightforward since we do have an informal verbal agreement.

Hey Jake, several of the image links in FL have been broken.  Just wanted to give you a FYI on that.

This is likely due to the conversion of the page into a SQL database. We'll be working at correcting the errors in the coming weeks.

That 2-digit Toll FL 23 shield is nice! Good job FDOT, for finally signing a non-three-digit Toll route.

when I first read Alex's update he emailed me, and I saw the words "green 23" I was imagining something completely different!  :-D

Do we have a decent photo of the Woodpecker Trail sign from Georgia?

agentsteel53

I do not have one sitting on my computer awaiting upload.  In fact I don't know if I've ever seen one.  I probably have, just never noticed it as it was 2am and I was busy clinching counties so I could never have to go to Georgia again.

I know I have photographed it in motion, but do not believe I have one shot while standing in front of it. The shield looks like the logo on the Woodpecker Trail web site.

Just a personal opinion, but shouldn't this get fixed before new ones are added? :P

It should, but it requires clicking 9,000 or so links in conjunction with going manually through the database. We have been fixing them slowly, but can only take so much of that in one setting...
