QuoteDoes 478 count? (Battery Tunnel in NYC)

Doesn't 478 still exist? (even if unsigned)
Yep.  I-878 does too, even if NYSDOT doesn't acknowledge it.

QuoteI-164 in Evansville, IN

Still existed as of April.
Didn't AASHTO make it part of I-69?
I was unsure about 478- although I don't understand why it's unsigned when is used to be fully signed- but 164 has changed to 69.

Must have been a loooong time ago or for a very short time, because I can't find a single picture to confirm I-478. It's not like there's any reason to sign it. Everybody knows it as the Battery Tunnel (not its new name).
I'm pretty sure I saw a 478 shield the first time I went to New York. Thinking it was 1997.

Was the GA 10 freeway stub ever actually signed as I-485? It appears as such on GDOT maps from 1966 through 1975, but I don't know if any signage ever appeared in the field.

The Conland-Whitehead Highway in Hartford appeared on maps for a while as I-484, and the US 6 expressway in RI was signed as RI 195 using a black and white interstate like shield.
Interstates I've clinched: 97, 290 (MA), 291 (CT), 291 (MA), 293, 295 (DE-NJ-PA), 295 (RI-MA), 384, 391, 395 (CT-MA), 395 (MD), 495 (DE), 610 (LA), 684, 691, 695 (MD), 695 (NY), 795 (MD)

Would the US 101 freeway (Doyle Drive) in the Presidio east of Route 1 count?  It was assigned to the 480 routing in the 1950s and was legislatively part of Route 480 (even post-interstate) until 1991.

I don't think I-165 in Mobile was ever built as I-210, as the missing pieces were canceled before I-165 opened.
Clinched: I-264 (KY), I-265 (KY), I-359 (AL), I-459 (AL), I-865 (IN)

Did extensive research on I-210 at the Mobile city archive when I found the 1982 DEIS for the route. The spur concept was one of those envisioned for I-210, but rejected initially:

In NH, the lower-end of I-293 (between the Everett Turnpike & I-93) was once I-193.

While it is signed w/I-95 in the MD/DC/VA area; the eastern-half of the Capital Beltway (I-95 portion) is officially just I-95.  The road was initially stripped of its original I-495 designation and signage after I-95 was rerouted.  While the I-495 shields indeed made a comeback in terms of signage; the official designation wasn't changed to reflect such.

Quote from: from dcroads.netAfter years of motorist confusion, I-495 signs were added back alongside the I-95 signs to the eastern arc of the Capital Beltway in 1991. However, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) recognizes only the western arc of the beltway as I-495; the eastern arc is recognized only as I-95.

Former I-378 in Bethlehem, PA....now PA 378 as it no longer connects to its parent.
IIRC, I-378 was originally I-178.

I-294 is still a current auxiliary interstate, but it used to service Indiana and now only services Illinois.
Indiana: counties 100%, highways 100%
Illinois: counties 100%, highways 61%
Michigan: counties 100%, highways 56%
Wisconsin: counties 86%, highways 23%

Does a business spur of a 3DI that no longer exists count? Lowell Connector in Lowell, MA used to be Business Spur 495, with one lone sign on Plain Ave pointing to it.

As I've pointed out in other threads about this, ther is no evidence that the Business Spur 495 designation for the Lowell Connector was ever sanctioned by AASHO or the Bureau Of Public Roads when it was "created" in the mid-1960s.  For one thing, Business Spur 495 green shields never appeared on any of the BGS panels for the Lowell Connector on either I-495 or US 3, and Business Spur 495 markers never appeared on the Lowell Connector mainline.
