The first I-57 shields have officially gone up! Photo taken near Kiehl Avenue / Exit 5 in Sherwood.

Did ArDOT pour a concrete pad for that shield post?!? A little overkill?

I guess they removed US 67/167 shields because based on the video link, it looks weird. But someone mentioned it is Arkansas' practice to unsign US routes along Interstate overlap. Maybe US 67/167 will be signed on the overhead signage?

I saw an ARDOT video posted on Facebook yesterday that showed the erection of a new I-57 shield with the two US Highway sheids alongside it.  So I am not sure US 67, etc are going to be hidden, at least not everywhere.  I posted the link below.

And that triple-shield sign was erected on the same concrete pad and same location as the pictured single 57 shield. Something changed

Just checked the IDriveArkansas traffic cams for Kiehl Ave. and only see the lone I-57 shield, not the concurrent US highway shields.  Looks like they've still got the AR-440 BGS up as well, so I wonder when they're going to be swapping that out for I-440.

Checking the IDriveArkansas traffic cams between Beebe and Bald Knob still shows the triplex shields, so they will be a few days likely in the Jacksonville area before heading northward.

Pouring a concrete pad for a sign base is standard procedure in a lot of states, since it allows the installation of a breakaway device (that triangular thing) at the base. Seen plenty of instances of that in other states. Not really unusual, just an upgrade from the U-channel posts that were there before.

Hey everyone! Little bit of an update, but numerous I-57 shields are now going up in Sherwood where I live, including a couple of assemblies featuring the US 67-167 overlap.




Even managed to snag a photo of one of those shields while it was being installed!

Arkansas is pushing to get I-57 signed from Little Rock to Walnut Ridge at least as soon as the Jacksonville reconstruction is completed in 2027.

With this in mind, could it be a while before we see any I-57 signage N of Exit 6?

That was one of my older posts before ARDOT released information stating that they will be signing all the way to Walnut Ridge, so the crew will keep heading northbound until they're done.  BGS changeover may be a different crew and come at a later time, but I hope I'm proven wrong and it happens quickly.

Given the construction in Jacksonville, it'd probably be more likely that it'll get signed between exits 11 and 123 before it gets signed in Jacksonville (exits 8-11), but I'm not sure what's going to happen. I'll be heading halfway across the country for two weeks, I'm curious what the extent of the signage would be by the time I get back home.

The plan was actually confirmed upthread: https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?msg=2947455 and https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?msg=2947292.

The exceptions for the designation were solely for the CA604 project area and the White River bridge.  So, shields will go up throughout, and I'd bet BGS shortly thereafter or even concurrently with another crew from south to north.
