Just wanted to start a new thread to see who has an account for one of the photo hosting services...

This would basically be just to post links to said account.

Mine: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dougtone/ (roads, signs, bridges, but not just roads, signs and bridges)

I'm very slowly getting them all organized and uploaded- it might be a while before my page is useful

At the present time, most of the photos on there deal with TN 840 construction.

Mine are in my signature down below.

I have tons of road photos which many include traffic signal pictures  :D I don't use my Photobucket anymore, I use my Picasa mainly. As for my Flickr, I barely ever use that.

It's a little disorganized at the moment, but there's plenty there. By the time you're done you'll know how to get around Richmond, Virginia. :P

I mainly use it for road signs, but pictures from my trips to Ottawa and West Point are there too.

Link to all my flickr sets which include road signs (mostly Lower Hudson Valley & US 44), sign collection and Orange and Ulster County outline signs. Many other sets of various things, race cars, Dealey Plaza Tx. amongst them.

I have none of the above. Since I have my own domain, I really don't see the need to have one of those accounts.

Can anyone tell me why it might be advantageous to have a Flickr, Picassa or Photobucket account over the http://www.millenniumhwy.net domain? I'm open to convincing as to why I need accounts at one or more of those places.

Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

Chris

You can link the pictures on your site from Flickr, which saves you bandwith (and costs probably)

You don't, hosting them on your own domain/server is the way to go.

Chris

What's the monthly bandwidth of AAroads.com ?

I wonder about the stats of this site.

Alex

Currently at 142,443 MB for the month.

For me, it all boils down to the fact that I don't really have the time or desire to maintain my own server space. When photos are uploaded to Flickr, it will automatically resize them to various sizes, and Flickr's organization and geotagging is relatively straightforward. You probably could implement similar features within your own website, but depending on the solution, it probably would be more labor-intensive. Flickr Pro costs $24.95 a year with no limits to the amount of space, uploads, or sets. I also enjoy the community aspect within Flickr, although the commenting system is rather simplistic.

yes, you do get Flickr's software - which is easier to get into, from a technical perspective, than downloading gallery software onto your own website... or, Hell, writing your own.

But, having your own gallery allows for customizing the implementation as you see fit, and, oh yeah, for-profit commercial use, which is one reason why the AARoads shield gallery isn't on Flickr.

hey, anyone wanna buy a highway sign? ;)
