I really really miss these signs... PA 60 shields, exit tabs as part of the sign, top light mounts (never used in this case)

One with the lights mounted:

As you can see by the image date, these are old pictures and now only Google street view relics.  They have since been replaced when PA 60 to the airport was resigned I-376 and Business 60 resigned Business 376.  Some, like the one at the airport, still live, but the exit tabs have been changed to follow 376's. One a side note, Google really needs to update their street view in Pittsburgh!

Actually these Pennsylvania 'strip tabs' are pretty much the only occurence that I've seen them outside California so far.

Drive eastbound on I-676 in Philadelphia, and you'll see something similar: the sign itself being to small for the sheet of green that it's on. There are huge tabs sticking up off the top of the sign. They're so ugly. >.<
Mileage-based exit numbering implies the existence of mileage-cringe exit numbering.

I posted these already in the "Poor Sign Placement" thread, but the following signs at the Autoroute 10 exit 29 interchange in Richelieu, QC date back to when A-10 was a toll road. These two below are on A-10 itself, with the next one having the original exit tab with the exit diagram...

These are on QC 133 itself at the A-10 interchange. You can see the old blue triangle Autoroute des Cantons de L'est (Eastern Townships Expressway), which is what A-10 was originally named.

I really hope you weren't posting that as an equal alternative...

I have always been a little bit partial to Connecticut's fully reflectorized button copy signage:

Unfortunately, most of this kind of signage in CT is illegible at night (barely reflective background on aging button copy losing its luster), which is why it is always a delight to see a sign replacement project underway in CT.  Sorry, not a button-copy fan!

Stumbled across this (somewhat obvious) sign a week ago in Cambria, CA:

On street view: http://goo.gl/maps/9BXjm

All of the streets in that part of town that end at the ocean have that sign.

kphoger

Well, yeah, that sign would be quite useful at night!  :-o
Keep right except to pass.  Yes.  You.

If you could get that same picture as an animated GIF with the waves rolling in ... that would be so many kinds of awesome.

This beauty is in Gentry, AR. Can be seen on Google Maps http://goo.gl/maps/IDi1J

Is that an ellipsis ("...") between the route number and the distance, or is it just rust?
Wait, it's all Ohio? Always has been.

It certainly looks like rust from a screw.

What state is that I-90 sign from?

I was told New York...the edge strap piece pattern matches the ones on similar NY signage on the Shield Gallery

Those are definitely the best of Ontario's highway signs. This particular one is gone, I think there are two or three left around Brockville on 401 EB, maybe less in the other direction.

I recall seeing about 2 of them going westbound when I was going through there last week. They didn't appear to be strikingly old either, or at least they weren't very weathered. I can post photos of them once I get them uploaded.

As promised...

Nice looking sign.  I like how the colors reflect in your flash as well.

Get them while you can, CT DOT has a lot of signing projects either currently underway or will be put out to bid within the next year.  They include, I-95, I-395, I-84 where signs haven't been replaced already.  They seem to be doing this very rapidly.
I only take pics of good looking signs. Long live non-reflective button copy!

Posted this yesterday as part of an update of US 90 westbound coverage in southeast Louisiana. This classic US shield shape in Louisiana is being phased out for the bland 1970-spec US shield. There are some examples still in the New Orleans area, but many were removed or replaced since 2008.

I love the reflecting light there.  It's almost like it's a movie or casino marquee.

What's the purpose of Google Street View if it blurs out road signs?
