Which upon first glance looked like "Gum caught in a Julia Child".

^^ It means Lock Ahead, such as a stop ahead or yield ahead (but not signal ahead) sign.

Oh ok, I do not know how the heck I didn't get that..  :pan:  :banghead:  :ded:  X-(

I guess, instead of interpreting a warning sign signaling what was to come ahead on the "road" of this thread, I thought it was a reply to Brandon's post directly above it (which was confusion to me), or to another post in this thread.

With my stupidity and misinterpretation put aside, that seriously is an awesome sign!  :D

The sign would be better if it looked less like a handbag.  Maybe a key put in it?

For real roads, I'd think "gate ahead" would be a better way to sign a possibly locked gate ahead.  The first thing the driver needs to do is slow down and stop without hitting the gate.  They they can worry about whether they have the right key.

Maybe it's just me, but I immediately knew that what the sign is visually showing is a lock.

It looks incredibly similar to the "lock" icon shown on this forum.

Also, I personally think that it would look more like a handbag if the curved part was shorter in height - or maybe I'm just crazy.

Just to clarify this post, in case there is any confusion:

When I said I had no idea what the picture was referring to, I wasn't talking about the symbol itself (which I knew was a lock all along), but rather what the said lock symbol was referring to exactly (which I now know).

Straight up deleted, looks like. Not even locking could save it.

Didn't know that was possible. I would have at least liked to see the final posts; does anyone know what finally set it off, or if there was forewarning?

Alanland-like discussion; i.e. "silliness for the sake of silliness" as quoted by... I can't check, since that thread has been deleted.

I dunno. I remember posting a comment this morning about betting money on it being locked (ironically...), but I dunno what happened after that as I went to bed after posting. That's what I get for working third shift, I guess.

I'm willing to bet that my goat video was a large contributor to the thread's deletion.  X-(

NOTE: I'm being half sarcastic here, as I know that that one post of mine wouldn't have had such a large impact on the thread, because there were a lot of other people also talking about goats and making references to Alanland towards the end of the thread.  :-D

I think I caused it when I posted my review of dining at Muncills Buffet . . .

1) has this ever happened before?

Threads have been outright deleted before. Usually they're parodies of other threads and last no more than a few hours (although "threads that have appeared at least once on aaroads" lasted days or possibly weeks before being deleted).

I guess locking it would have been so ironic and wreaked so much havoc around the forum, that deleting it was a much simpler (though more deceptive) option. Perhaps there was an internal argument, too, or perhaps the mods are sick of hearing complaints about every thread lock. Either way, it was a smart move (in the sense that I feel a bit exploited).
Good thing I added that thread then! :-D

Lock, Lock, Lock Your Thread :bigass:

Honest question, where did it go?

I noticed my post count went down too, is it permanently deleted?
My post count went down too. It is one of the only threads I remember being deleted.

It should be noted that it's rare that anything is deleted permanently; most of the time, things that go "missing" have just been set so that only moderators can view them.

That being said, it's that time for this thread. We don't really need a thread listing all of the closed threads, and everything else in here is mostly silly.
