I know it's not a real sign, which is why I said whoever made the sign is a genius (because it's freakin cool).

I made it myself; I took a MUTCD-standard Stop Ahead sign and replaced the stop sign with a padlock. Glad you like it!

Yes, it was definitely genius! Thank you for creating it, as it is super cool, and it was a creative and interesting contribution to the thread, while still getting your point across.

A very neat sign indeed!!

I remember that one! (The "Signs you will never on the road" thread) I even used the Jump sign to successfully troll a troll in another forum :sombrero:

If this thread gets locked, do we need to add it to the list?
It's all fun & games until someone summons Cthulhu and brings about the end of the world.

Only if another thread like this is created to post it.

THREADLOCKCEPTION!
I have noticed that the mods have not been locking as many threads lately.

Threads must have really gotten out of hand recently, if not locking as many threads lately is a noticeable thing.

The sign would be better if it looked less like a handbag.  Maybe a key put in it?

For real roads, I'd think "gate ahead" would be a better way to sign a possibly locked gate ahead.  The first thing the driver needs to do is slow down and stop without hitting the gate.  They they can worry about whether they have the right key.

Or they could run through the gate...?

Maybe it's just me, but I immediately knew that what the sign is visually showing is a lock.

It looks incredibly similar to the "lock" icon shown on this forum.

Also, I personally think that it would look more like a handbag if the curved part was shorter in height - or maybe I'm just crazy.

100% of us knew it was a lock.
I hope so. 99 would be stupid.

Just to clarify this post, in case there is any confusion:

When I said I had no idea what the picture was referring to, I wasn't talking about the symbol itself (which I knew was a lock all along), but rather what the said lock symbol was referring to exactly (which I now know).
